Andrei Vasilevskiy Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Pittsburgh looks to DeSmith to get things going

Casey DeSmith gets the start tonight against an Arizona team that has been generating over 33 shots on goal per game. This ranks as the sixth best team in that category while their 2.86 goals per game average sinks all the way down to 24th in the league. This is a perfect storm here as Arizona can get the shots to the net but cannot put the biscuit in the basket. Yes Pittsburgh has had trouble scoring of late but this is one reason why DeSmith may be slightly under owned this evening. If you wanted to go with the dead chalk then Andrei Vasilevskiy would be your guy as Tampa is a -300 favorite on home ice against a struggling Ottawa team that has given up 67 goals so far this season.

Top Goalie Tonight

To avoid the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the playoffs and take over first place in the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lightning must win tonight on home ice, and with the Buffalo Sabres in town, that seems like a slam dunk. The Sabres have struggled all year long to both win and score goals on the road, and I expect more of the same tonight at the Amalie Arena. Andrei Vasilevskiy has struggled down the stretch this season, but he was incredible last time out, shutting out the Boston Bruins, stopping all 33 shots he faced, and I expect another strong performance tonight. Vasilevskiy is a lock for the win, and our best chance at a shutout.

Top Goalie Tonight

Despite his recent cold streak (13 goals against in his last three games, however, the Bolts did win them all), Andrei Vasilevskiy remains the top option tonight in cash games. The Tampa Bay Lightning are a massive favorite tonight and they should be able to handle the Ottawa Senators with ease this evening. The Senators are not only playing their second game in as many nights, but they have also struggled all year long to win games on the road (10-19-5) and score goals (30th overall in the National Hockey League). You are paying a hefty price tag for his services this evening ($9,400 on FanDuel and $8,500 on DraftKings), but 23-year-old Russian netminder is your safest option in goal, and I would not be surprised to see Vasilevskiy shut out the Senators tonight.

Top Goalie Tonight

The Tampa Bay Lightning are a massive favorite tonight on home ice as they face a Buffalo Sabres squad that struggles to both win games and score goals away from home, resulting in Andrei Vasilevskiy ranking number one overall on our cash game goalie list. The Bolts young goaltender has been a rock in net all season long (2.35 GAA, .927 SV%), and we can count on him to get the job done again this evening. Vasilevskiy is a lock for the win tonight, and your best chance at a shutout.

This Vezina Trophy favourite is in a great matchup tonight

Despite being on the road, Andrei Vasilevskiy is in a fantastic spot. The Tampa Bay Lightning are in Montreal to take on the Canadiens, a team that has just 54 points which is tied for the fifth lowest in the league. Although Vasilevskiy has struggled a bit over the last few weeks, he is still the favourite for the Vezina Trophy this season. His numbers are elite with a 2.33 goals against average, .928 save percentage and seven shutouts. The Habs are not a concern to score much and with Shea Weber shut down for the season and Carey Price out indefinitely, there is no sign of this team turning it around over the remainder of the season.

Top Goalie Tonight

The Tampa Bay Lightning are a massive favorite tonight on home ice, bringing goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy to the forefront once again. The Lightning remain the best team in hockey and they should dominate a Detroit Red Wings team that struggles to generate offense (ranking 25th overall in the National Hockey League in goals per game). Vasilevskiy has been a wall in goal for the Bolts all season long (2.33 GAA, .928 SV% and 7 SHO), and I think we see another strong performance from him tonight at the Amalie Arena. Overall, Vasilevskiy is your safest bet for a win and there is also shutout potential here against a punch-less Red Wings offense.

Pay Up To Be Contrarian With This Netminder

If you're looking for an under the radar option in net tonight, consider taking Vasilevskiy, who has been fantastic in his first season as a starter in Tampa Bay. The Lightning have not been the same defensive stalwart on the road this year, but Vasilevskiy has picked up the slack with a 15-6-1 record to go along with a stellar .943 SV% which includes six shutouts on the road this year. A matchup against a potent Edmonton team may seem risky, but the Oilers have struggled to find the back of the net in recent games; entering tonight's game averaging just 1.9 goals per game since January 1st. He won't be cheap, but his steep price tag will certainly lower his ownership in tournaments, making him a solid option to target in a very winnable game for Tampa Bay.

If you're looking for an under the radar option in net tonight, consider taking Vasilevskiy, who has been fantastic in his first season as a starter in Tampa Bay. The Lightning have not been the same defensive stalwart on the road this year, but Vasilevskiy has picked up the slack with a 13-6-1 record to go along with a stellar .946 SV% which includes six shutouts on the road this year. A matchup against a potent Calgary Flames team may seem risky, but Calgary has struggled to find the back of the net in recent games; entering tonight's game averaging just 1.6 goals per game during a five game losing streak. He won't be cheap, but his steep price tag will certainly lower his ownership in tournaments, making him a solid option to target in a very winnable game for Tampa Bay.

Top Goalie Tonight

Any of Andrei Vasilevskiy, Sergei Bobrovsky or Braden Holtby should be fine in goal for cash games tonight, however Vasilevskiy is your safest option. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the National Hockey Leagues best team (with an overall record of 31-9-3, and a 17-3-1 record on home ice), and they are quite sound defensively, sitting in the top 10 in every relevant advanced metric. Not to mention, Vasilevskiy has become one of the leagues best goaltenders, posting a 2.10 GAA, and a .922 SV%, to go along with an NHL best six shutouts. The Calgary Flames are a one line team, and they have struggled to score on the road this season (22nd overall in goals per game away from home), so I expect the Bolts to key in on this line and shut them down tonight at the Amalie Arena. Vasilevskiy may not see enough shots to be the highest scoring goalie on the night, but he is a lock for the win, and the top overall option in cash games.

Simply put, this is the best goaltender in the league this year

Andrei Vasilevskiy has been an absolute beast this season. He is second in the league with a 1.92 goals against average and a .939 save percentage, he leads the league in wins with 26 and shutouts with six. He has been absolutely dominant and with the offence that Tampa Bay has to go with this goaltending, the team is unstoppable right now. Although the Lightning are no the road, they are taking on the Ottawa Senators who are scoring just 2.67 goals per game which is the sixth worst in the NHL. Vasilevskiy is in a great spot to put up a big number tonight, but you do have to pay a lot to use him. With value lines available, you can force him in your lineup and because of his price he could come in at reduced ownership.
