OVERLAY! Only 477 of 2777 Entries in DraftDay's $25,000 MLB Moneyball

DraftDay has built up a reputation of pushing the limits in their Guaranteed Prize Pools. They are not afraid to pay out an overlay. They have had over $6,000 in overlays between their $25,000 Week 17 NFL tournament $10,000 NBA Contest (which RotoGrinder headChopper shipped + a pair of courtside tickets to a Clippers game). This is in addition to the MLB and NBA freerolls the run every single day.

If you’re not familiar with Overlays, an Overlay occurs when a site posts a Guaranteed Prize Pool, but the amount of money contributed by the players does not add up to the Guaranteed amount. In that case, the site offering the guarantee pays money out of their pocket into the prize pool – instead of the site charging you a rake, you get to charge one to the site! It’s the best feeling in daily fantasy.

DraftDay’s $25,000 Money Ball tourney is a $10 buy in, so they need 2,500 players to break even on that guarantee. I could be totally wrong here, but I don’t think that’s happening. Right now there’s only 477 entries, not even enough to cover the first and second place prizes (1st: $4,000 – 2nd: $2,500). I would predict around 2100-2300 entries (an overlay of 10-15%).

Remember that this is baseball, and it is hard to set a team more than a couple of hours in advance. Gotta check weather, lineups, etc. This will get to 2000+ entries before first pitch, but it will still be a great value. Gotta play it.

1895 final entrants – even lower than we thought. That’s a record $6000 overlay.
