Pitcher Grind Down
- Wily Peralta – Peralta has pitched well this season, especially on the road where he has a 3.20 ERA with 42 K’s over 54 innings of work. While the Cardinals aren’t a great offensive team this season, Peralta will have a tough time picking up the win with Wainwright pitching opposite him. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7,300 FD, $13,850 DD, $6,700 DK, $87,200 FF, $21,900 SS, $13,850 FTD
- Adam Wainwright – Wainwright has been one of the best pitchers in the National League all season long. He is sporting a 1.92 ERA with a K/9 of 7.3. He’s also pitched at least 7 innings in 8 of his last 9 starts. He’ll have the platoon advantage tonight against a Brewers offense that consists primarily of RH hitters. It’s hard to find anything negative with Wainwright tonight Rating = 9
Salaries: $10300 FD, $21350 DD, $10500 DK, $121300 FF, $28400 SS, $ FTD

Milwaukee
Aramis Ramirez – If you are a BvP fanatic, you may want to look at Aramis tonight. He is 19/50 with 9 XBH’s off of Wainwright in his career which is a pretty large sample size.
Additional Plays: NONE
St. Louis
Matt Adams – Peralta has given up a .369 wOBA to LH hitters this season and Adams continues to mash RH pitching. He’s batting .347 with a .397 wOBA against righties.
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter, Oscar Taveras

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jeremy Guthrie – Guthrie has pitched well in spots this season, but has had the same problem that he has had throughout his career and that’s that he can’t get LH hitters out. He’s given up a .377 wOBA to batters from the left side of the plate. That does not bode well for him tonight against the A’s who have some terrific LH batters. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5600 FD, $10300 DD, $6000 DK, $45800 FF, $14300 SS, $10300 FTD
- Sonny Gray – Right after Sale and Wainwright, Mr. Gray at the top of the list of pitchers to target tonight. Gray has a 2.63 ERA on the season with a K/9 of 7.6 and a great matchup against a power-less Royals offense. You can make the argument that the Royals don’t strike out often, but Gray is a huge favorite and should pitch deep into this game. Rating = 8.5
Salaries: $9,400 FD, $18,750 DD, $9,500 DK, $143,700 FF, $27,600 SS, $18,750 FTD

Kansas City
Sonny Gray is one of my top pitching options tonight and I’ll be avoiding all Royals hitters against him.
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss has been a little disappointing in his last few outings, but should get right back on the horse tonight against Guthrie who, as mentioned above, is awful against LH hitters. Moss has 2 HR’s off of Guthrie in only 6 career at-bats and should be targeted in all league formats.
Additional Plays: Stephen Vogt, Coco Crisp, John Jaso, Jed Lowrie

Pitcher Grind Down
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez has pitched well for the Pirates this season, but he has a low K-rate and a high walk rate. He also has an extremely tough matchup against the Diamondbacks in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. Nothing against Volquez, but he is far off of my fantasy radar tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6600 FD, $13350 DD, $6300 DK, $80200 FF, $15400 SS, $13350 FTD
- Vidal Nuno – Nuno is a below average lefty that is facing a Pirates offense that has been very good over the last few weeks. While the Pirates haven’t hit LH pitching all that well this season, I think they’ll find a cure for that tonight in Nuno. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5600 FD, $11650 DD, $5500 DK, $50200 FF, $13000 SS, $11650 FTD

Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – The last time Cutch had a terrific matchup against a lefty in a hitter-friendly ballpark, he let us down. In fact, he had a whole series of letdowns when the Pirates faced the Rockies in Coors. Cutch should make up for that tonight against Nuno in Chase Field.
Additional Plays: Josh Harrison, Neil Walker, Jordy Mercer
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – In addition to hitting RH pitching well this season, Goldy has been terrific at home and has a great track record against Volquez. He’s 7/14 with 5 XBH’s off of Volquez in his career.
Additional Plays: Miguel Montero, David Peralta

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kyle Hendricks – Hendricks is an inexperienced pitcher that faces a tough Dodgers offense on the road. He’s one of the biggest underdogs on the board tonight and should be avoided in all leagues. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5600 FD, $12950 DD, $6700 DK, $79400 FF, $20800 SS, $NA FTD
- Dan Haren – Haren has pitched better than his 4.49 ERA suggests. He has a 3.70 xFIP and he’s been able to produce a 45% ground ball rate which is the 2nd highest in his career. He’s still giving up a high HR per fly ball rate, but if he can pitch around Anthony Rizzo, he should be able to keep the ball in the park tonight against the Cubs. He’s a solid option on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6900 FD, $ DS, $13000 DD, $6400 DK, $51200 FF, $16100 SS, $13000 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
Anthony Rizzo – Rizzo hits a lot of HR’s and Haren gives up a lot of HR’s. Haren has given up a HR in 15% of fly balls given up which is extremely high.
Additional Plays: NONE
LA Dodgers
Dee Gordon – I always like taking Gordon against RH pitching. His SB potential goes up as well as his matchup in terms of handedness. Look for Gordon to get on base and be very aggressive.
Additional Plays: Adrian Gonzalez, Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig

Pitcher Grind Down
- Mike Minor – Minor was decent in his last start against the Padres. He gave up 8 hits, 3 earned runs, and struck out 6 batters over 6 and 2/3 innings. Tonight he faces the Padres again, but this time it will be in the pitcher’s paradise that is Petco Park. Minor’s price has come way down and I think he’s certainly in play against the worst offense in baseball. Rating = 6.5
Salaries: $6800 FD, $12250 DD, $7400 DK, $56000 FF, $14700 SS, $12250 FTD
- Eric Stults – Stults is starting to look like the Stults from 2013. He had a decent month of July where he held opponents to a .237 batting average. Tonight he gets to pitch in Petco which is always a big boost for pitchers. He may be worth a look as a contrarian GPP play against the Braves. Rating = 5.5
Salaries: $5600 FD, $9450 DD, $6600 DK, $53600 FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD

There are better matchups to exploit than this game in Petco. I’m going to avoid all hitters in this one.
