NBA Daily Plays: Friday, March 28th (GPP Edition)
There are 12 games on the schedule tonight and while there aren’t any premier events, there are still plenty of big GPP’s across the industry. As usual on Fridays, we do a special GPP edition of the daily plays. These are players that have great matchups, will be under-owned, or just have an extremely high ceiling (or a combination of all 3). For the top cash game plays of the day, make sure to check out the Grind Down.

Guards
- Ty Lawson (vs. SAS) – Lawson is going to be extremely under-owned tonight after he put up a dud performance against this same Spurs team the other night in San Antonio. That said, this game will be played in Denver, the Spurs are ranked below average defensively, and Lawson’s price has come down. Lawson is averaging over 35 FP’s per game at home this season and his high ceiling makes him a great tournament play tonight.
- Kendall Marshall (vs. MIN) – We all know how many injuries the Lakers have had this season, but lately that hasn’t translated to fantasy production for Marshall. He is seeing around 25-28 minutes of playing time per night, but he just can’t seem to crack the 25 FP mark. That may change tonight against the Wolves who have surrendered the 5th most FP’s to PG’s this season. Marshall is cheap and has nice upside in tonight’s matchup.
- Kevin Martin (vs. LAL) – Staying with the Lakers and T-Wolves, K-Mart Jr. has a very nice matchup as well. Martin’s price has come way down across the industry and I think he can reach value on points alone. The Lakers are ranked dead last against SG’s this season and in 3 meetings this season, K-Mart is averaging 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Martin has the rare combination of a high floor and a high ceiling at his price.
- Eric Bledsoe (vs. NYK) – Bledsoe has really been playing well of late and draws a terrific matchup tonight against the Knicks who are ranked 26th against SG’s this season. Bledsoe has topped 33 FP’s in 4 straight games and should be able to reach that mark again tonight against the Knicks. This game will also be played at home where Bledsoe is averaging 6 more FP’s per game than he is on the road.
- Honorable Mentions – Deron Williams (vs. CLE), Russell Westbrook (vs. SAC), Lance Stephenson (vs. WAS), Victor Oladipo (vs. CHA)
Forwards
- Tyreke Evans (vs. UTA) – Evans was one of the most popular plays in the industry on Wednesday and he was pretty much the only Pelicans player that had a subpar game. His biggest asset is his ability to attack and finish at the rim and that was hurt with DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin down low. Tonight, he has a much more favorable matchup against the Jazz. The Jazz bigs are great rebounders, but they are not great weak side defenders. Evans should bounce back in a big way tonight and would obviously see a boost if Gordon, Rivers, and/or Roberts have to sit out again.
- Gordon Hayward (vs. NO) – Hayward is the opposite SF in the same game and he has similar upside to Evans. Hayward has shown that he can post a 50 FP outing and I don’t mind the matchup against the Pelicans tonight. Hayward is a little cheaper than Evans, but they are very similar players in that they both rely on the peripheral stats for their fantasy production. I’m predicting something in the 20/7/6 range tonight.
- Kenneth Faried (vs. SAS) – The MANimal is always a solid play at home, especially now that J.J. Hickson is out for the season. Faried has been seeing around 35 minutes per game since the All-Star break and Hickson’s absence only solidifies those minutes even more. Faried played very well against the Spurs on Wednesday as he posted 45 FP’s in San Antonio. Tonight’s game will be played in Denver which bodes well for Faried as he is averaging 7 more FP’s per game at home than he is on the road.
- Jordan Hill (vs. MIN) – Hill was highly touted in my Grind Down column yesterday and he really showed up in a big way against the Bucks. Hill has an extremely high ceiling when he is given big minutes and with Pau Gasol out again tonight, he should continue to be targeted in ALL leagues. Hill has topped 32 FP’s in 3 of his last 4 games and should see plenty of minutes again tonight.
- Honorable Mentions – Josh Smith (vs. MIA), Paul George (vs. WAS), Anthony Davis (vs. UTA), Serge Ibaka (vs. SAC)
Centers
- Andre Drummond (vs. MIA) – Drummond has to be licking his chops for his matchup tonight against the Heat. While his season splits against the Heat aren’t anything special, he was in foul trouble in two of those 3 games. If he can stay out of foul trouble, this could be a 20/20 game for Drummond. The Heat do not defend the paint well and are the second worst rebounding team in the league. Drummond is one of my favorite plays across the board tonight.
- Honorable Mentions – Gorgui Dieng (vs. LAL), DeMarcus Cousins (vs. OKC)
