Rise & Grind: April 17th, 2014
Welcome to the RotoGrinders cup o’morning joe. Start your day off on the right foot with yesterday’s happenings and take a peek at the the upcoming day in the world of DFS.
So kick back, grab your first cup of coffee, and catch up on the latest news!
In Case You Missed It
- Another Day, Another FD Qualifier – Another Grinders member. Grinders member and well known analyst for Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio, Mike Leone (username leonem) punched a ticket to the DFBC Finals in Vegas last night when he took down the $270 qualifier. Mike works closely with Dink to provide expert advice on Sirius, and he’s a great friend of RG. Congrats Mike, well deserved!
- The NBA Regular Season Comes to a Close – Hear that sound? That’s the DFS community letting out a collective sigh of relief now that the last week of the
landmine extravaganzaNBA season has come to a close. The seedings are set, and NBA playoffs begin this weekend. The Thunder will take on the Grizzlies on Saturday in what should be one of the more interesting matchups of the first round.
- NHL Playoffs Underway – The first few games in the race for the Stanley Cup were played last night, and the Canadiens, Penguins, and Ducks all took down the first game of their respective series’. The Stars went on a 3 goal run starting at the end of the second period to cut the lead to 1, but in the end the Ducks were able to hold on for the win. All three games were won by a 1 goal margin.
Today’s Events
- Today’s Action – There is a 12 game split-slate schedule in the MLB today with games starting at about 1pm EST. With that said, keep in mind that not all 12 games are included on all sites. For example, DraftKings doesn’t include the Rockies/Padres game in either of it’s slates. Also, playoff hockey continues tonight! Four games on the schedule, and first puck drops at 7:00 PM EST when the Flyers take on the Rangers.
- Today’s GPP’s – Overall it’s a pretty quiet day in terms off big GPPs (compared to the usual amounts we’ve come to expect) but there is still plenty of money up for grabs. FanDuel has two versions of their $25 Strikeout tourney running today; one for the early slate and one for the late games. The two tournaments boast $20k and $40k guaranteed respectively. On the hockey side of things, the biggest game FanDuel is the $25 Goal with $2,000 guaranteed. DraftKings is running a $109 buy in High Heat game with $15k guaranteed and a $27 buy in Payoff Pitch with $12.5 guaranteed. And of course we can’t forget our friends over at DraftStreet, who are running a $22 entry $6,000 guaranteed baseball contest that starts with the early games.
