  • Condia Interview

    alt

Condia became an overnight legend in the Daily Fantasy Community this football season when both DraftStreet and FanDuel implemented a rule limiting the number of games a player could take on their sites. To most, Condia is an intriguing and mysterious figure in the daily fantasy community, primarily due to the transparency of his massive bankroll through his volume of play, and his lack of participation in the chat boxes. I’ve heard people question if he’s real, or a sports-betting machine who sets the lines in Vegas. After our interview with Condia on the Podcast at the beginning of NFL season, our readers wanted to hear more, so we reached out to Condia for another interview to get in the mind of one of the top Grinders we’ve seen in Daily Fantasy to date. • Talking With Jonathan Stewart and Buzz Draft

    alt

I always wondered what it would be like to play fantasy football with star pro athletes. Would they only pick players from their own team? Would they leverage their position for inside info and totally dominate my lineups? Or would they let their pro-athlete egos show-off and draft themselves in the first round no matter what? Well, now BuzzDraft has burst onto the Daily Fantasy scene and given everyone the chance to find out the answers to these questions, starting with Jonathan Stewart. Not only that, the one and only J-Stew agreed to do a quick interview with us after his first contest! (Read More)

  • Interview with 2011 FFFC Champion Beermakersfan

    alt

Is there a guy hotter in Daily Fantasy sports right now? Chris Prince, aka Beermakersfan, is the #4 Ranked Overall Grinder, he took down over $5,000 in GPPs last week, over $3,000 in GPP winnings the week before that, and he took home $75,000 and the title of 2011 FanDuel Fantasy Football Champion just before that! That’s a ridiculously incredible NFL season…which is kind of scary, because last time I interviewed Chris he told me that his best sport was Baseball. Now, just over a week into NBA season, he already has a $2,500 GPP score in basketball. Stop it already. This guy might just be the best all-around Daily Fantasy Grinder we’ve seen to date. After getting back from Vegas, Chris took some time away from raising his new-born baby to do an interview with us about winning the FFFC, to tell us his best sport really is, and more. Here’s what he had to say: (Read More)

  • Leading the Large-Field Contests: Interview with Judson23

    alt

If you have played a large-field contest on FanDuel this baseball season, chances are that you’ve seen the name Judson23 near, or at the top of its leaderboard. After a mild April of around $1,700 in winnings, Judson23 topped $15,000 in prizes, for three consecutive months! In addition, he’s on his way to compete for $25,000 in the DFBC finals after earning his seat by winning the FanDuel Tournament Kings promotion. Judson23 was kind enough to give RotoGrinders his time, and an inside-look, into the mind behind the large-field contest success. Here’s what he had to say: (Read More)

  • Interview With DFBC Finalist and Poker Pro Matt 'SamENole' Smith

    alt

Matt ‘SamENole’ Smith was a top online poker player, who after online poker’s Black Friday, took his talents to FanDuel. It didn’t take him long to master a new online game, qualifying in Week 6 for the DFBC finals. With over $1,000,000 in online poker winnings to date, he could be adding another $25,000 to his pocket in the DFBC finals. Matt and Cal know each other from the Pocket 5’s days, and shortly after completing a stay in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, Cal put me in touch with SamENole for this interview. Being a die-hard Florida Gator, I struggled with the ethical dilemma. After much thought, I opted to not let my passion for the Gators stand in the way of interviewing a guy I followed and respected from the earliest days of Online Poker. Here’s what we discussed: (Read More)

  • From $60 to $60,000: A Hick On a Heater

    alt

If you play on DraftStreet, or follow the RotoGrinders Rankings, then you are well aware of the name HixvilleHunk. Around April 10th, 2011, Ryan H. made a $60 deposit on DraftStreet after playing his first Daily Fantasy Sports freeroll, and he hasn’t looked back since. Not only has the Elon college student not ever had to make another deposit, he has reeled in over $20,000 in profits on over $77,000 in winnings in just two months! If that weren’t enough, he’s set his goal at a $60,000 profit by the end of the MLB season; some of us set our sites on that for our annual salary. At that rate, he could probably forget about finishing college if he wanted to, but then again his job with the Burlington Royals, a Minor League ball club in North Carolina, might frown on that. The kid seems to have a really strong track record; he holds his High School’s record in baseball for career hits, he’s set to graduate with a dual major…early, and now he’s one of the biggest winners of 2011 in Daily Fantasy. In just 2 months, he’s rocketed to #8 in the RotoGrinders rankings, and he currently has twice as many points in the Monthly GLB than 2nd place. To put that in perspective, the remaining members of the Top 10 have 7-12 months of results counting towards their ranking and most are receiving a rankings bonus for their play on multiple sites and/or sports – HixvilleHunk plays 1 site, 1 sport, and has only been playing 2 months. Look out. (Read More)

  • ESPN and Sirius Radio Host Tony Cincotta (#11) Interview

    alt

Tony Cincotta has been involved in Fantasy Sports as long as I have been alive. • #1 Ranked PrimeTime420 Shares His Thoughts

    alt

Number one is in the building ladies and gentlemen. Chris aka PrimeTime420 has been blazing Daily Fantasy Sports for almost two years now. During the brief period from March of 2010, when RotoGrinders began compiling data for daily fantasy, through today, PrimeTime has amassed over $22,000 in winnings. He is the #1 Ranked Daily Fantasy Grinder on our site, and by a solid margin.

As of last week’s rankings, PrimeTime420 had amassed over 2,700 Grinder Points, separating himself from second place by almost 900 of those points. To put that in perspective, if PrimeTime420 finished in first place with his points total in the BCS College Football Final Standings, the points accumulated by second place would only be good enough to earn an 8th place ranking. PrimeTime is living proof of the possibility that the best Grinders could one day earn a living solely playing Daily Fantasy Sports; PrimeTime currently supplements his fantasy “day job” only by working at a restaurant on nights. It hasn’t come easy though. PrimeTime has gotten to where he his with hard-work and effort over the past two years, devoted towards researching and understanding the games. He’s learned to manage his bankroll, control his emotions, and remain humble. Even today he has respect for and will avoid certain opponents. Chris was nice enough to give us some time to talk with him, and get inside the hungry-yet-humble mind of the number one ranked Daily Fantasy Grinder. (Read More)

  • SClement21 - Minor League Baseball and Major League Grinder

    alt

At only the age of 22, Sean sclement21 Clement is sitting at #4 in the RotoGrinders rankings. Sean immerses himself in sports; Last summer he worked for an independent baseball league team and he is currently interning with the Beloit Snappers, a Class-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. As soon as the season is over, he plans on beginning a full-time career in the sports world. Sean told us that “baseball has always been his passion”, but that he tends to develop an “obsession with whatever sport happens to be in season, college or pro.” Sean currently resides in Libertyville, Illinois making him partial to Chicago and Milwaukee’s pro teams – namely the Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks and the Packers. Recently graduating from Iowa State, Sean is also an avid Cyclone fan. Though his personal “playing days have pretty much come to an end”, Sean does plan to make one last run at a professional sports career by becoming a “world-class men’s softball player some day.” With classes and intramurals now behind him, Sean has the option to apply his passion for sports to all facets of the industry. We had the opportunity to talk with Sean ‘sclement21’ Clement recently to discuss how he applies his passion to Daily Fantasy Sports. (Read More)

Representing Fantasy Sports Live, Blinders was the first competitor to accept Buffalo’s challenge, creating a sort of Daily Fantasy Projections vs. Fantasy Sports Live mini-battle. The stakes? $1,320 wagered over 48 matches and arguably, the title ‘Best All-Around Daily Fantasy Player’. Since #2 ranked Buffalo66 initiated the challenge almost an entire year ago, we gave him first crack at telling his side. • Interview With 'Buffalo66' aka John Sullivan

    alt

To start things off at RotoGrinders, we decided: β€˜What better than to interview someone that has been Grinding, in the most accurate meaning of the word, since the start of Daily Fantasy Sports?” That man is John β€˜Buffalo66’ Sullivan.

John has been Grinding Daily Fantasy since 2006 when daily contests first surfaced online, making him one of the Godfathers of this young and emerging industry. John started playing full-time on sites that you’ve probably never heard of, because they no longer exist. More recently, you’ve probably seen his alias Buffalo66 constantly amidst the top of the FanDuel and Fantasy Sports Live leaderboards. Almost a year ago, John launched Daily Fantasy Projections, a subscription-based service site where he provides daily player rankings and private mentoring for all of his clients. We recently got a chance to chat with John. The bi-product was a must-read interview for Daily Fantasy participants. Enjoy! (Read More)
