  • NBA Weekly Preview

    alt

It’s been a wild ride, but only a few weeks of regular season fantasy basketball remain. Sure, there’s always fantasy basketball playoff games, but there’s nothing quite like the daily grind of the regular season. Before you get cast into that playoff atmosphere of picking matchups over individual tendencies, we still have a couple more thrilling weeks left to play with. Here’s your weekly dose of player and team updates, along with some daily fantasy advice: (Read More)

  • Weekly Rankings Update: The General is Back

    alt

If you think that you hear KCearnal in the background chanting NFONFONFO…it’s because Rudzia555 and Ohmsy (back off a recent suspension from FanDuel) combined for almost 7,900 points, taking the 2nd and 3rd spots, respectively, this week. After some time off, GeneralV is back on the grind in a big way. After just a 400+ point week last week, V managed just under a 5,000 point week this week! The former FFFC Champion is lethal when he’s playing, and has firm grip on the #3 spot. (Read More)

  • $25,000 FanDuel Grand Slam Preview with ZooBird

    alt

Quick, what is the largest prize pool you’ve ever played for in a fantasy baseball league, daily or season long? While we do have some high stakes guys in the community, few of us have ever played for anywhere close to $25,000. I’ve played arduous, competitive full season leagues with a prize pool 1% as big as the FanDuel Grand Slam. This is an awesome promo. Someone is going to win $5,000 on opening day. Hopefully it’s me. For this, I’ll enter at least 10 teams at $10 a pop. It’s certainly going to be fun to sweat my teams and the teams of fellow Grinders. (Read More)

  • FanDuel NHL Lineup and Value Picks

With the fantasy hockey cap structure on Fanduel so tight, it’s critical that you not overpay for a player at any position. This week, I’ll highlight a few players at each position that are clearly overpriced and not delivering value for that high cap hit. After a full season of playing hockey on Fanduel every day, I’ve come to realize that you shouldn’t spend top dollar on a goalie unless you have no other options. More often than not, you can find a value goalie with a fair chance to win, such as Crawford, Schneider, or Bobrosvky, who will give you enough points to get by. (Read More)

  • Using Field-Odds on NBA Wednesday

    alt

Wednesday is the day to get excited about for Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball. With most of the sites stepping up the guaranteed prize pools to entice action, there is a lot of money to be had for as little as $5. When working on your NBA Lineups to enter for a large-field contest (I consider 25 or more a large-field usually), one concept oft overlooked by newer Grinders when entering a field with so many teams is a term, I’m going to call field-odds. Below I’m going to cover the concept with an example, so that you can apply it while entering your lineups tonight. (Read More)

  • NBA Weekly Preview

If you’re still wondering if Marcus Thornton is for real or if Blake Griffin was really hitting a “rookie wall” it’s probably safe to say both questions have been answered. Thornton continues to make Sacramento fans forget about Tyreke Evans and Blake Griffin has returned to the scene of the “winning the rookie of the year” crime. The point is, these are two monster performers when the ball gets rolling, and it’s time to stop doubting them. However, the worry that creeps in every daily fantasy gamer’s mind is well noted, and also pretty understandable. That’s why the NBA Weekly Preview is here, to get you a head-start on the week, in an effort to ease your worries as you build your daily lineup. (Read More)

  • Weekly Rankings Update: TheCrow Flies Up 12 Spots

    alt

We’re going to kick off this Monday with the Weekly Rankings Update, and there’s plenty to talk about, so let’s get to it. We’ve hit a milestone of sorts here at RotoGrinders; the one-year rankings effect is now coming into effect for some Grinders. As you can see in the Rankings FAQ, to ensure the most consistent grinders, and those who are currently playing make it to the top of the rankings, only rankings from the last one year of play count towards the overall standings. If you notice that your points are dropping off in points, that means you did better last year at this point in time than you did this year, so pick it up (like the guys below have)! (Read More)

  • DraftStreet NHL Lineup and Value Picks

    alt

Draftstreet has been up and running with fantasy hockey for two months now and seems to be building a strong following. This week, I’ll highlight players to target to give you top value for your dollar at each position. Keep in mind that Draftstreet changes their prices daily, so consider this short-term advice. Let’s start in net: (Read More)

  • NBA Autopick Thursdays

    alt

In an Autopick game you alternate picks with your opponent with no salary cap, just like a Snake Draft you would have in your season-long league. This means that you will have an entirely separate lineup than your opponent, and that the game seems to allow for a little more control than a Salary Cap game would on Thursday. I’ll be posting some Autopick lineups on occasional Thursdays moving forward, sampling the strategies on each site. Here’s an Autopick lineup for tonight’s NBA games on FanDuel. On FanDuel the thing to remember is that if you create the contest, you get first pick. If you join someone else’s contest, than you get second pick. I’d prefer it be random, but at least it allows you to prepare. Some days, depending on the drop-off in value at certain positions, I’ll only create games to get the first pick. However, today I’d be comfortable grabbing Autopick games with this lineup as well as creating them: (Read More)

  • The Ohmsy Controversy - Update: Ohmsy Responds through Blog

    alt

If you’ve been on FanDuel today, then you’ve noticed something isn’t quite right. The chat box seems to be a good bit more argumentative than it normally is. The controversy (which I’m coining ‘ScanDuel’) allegedly revolves around FanDuel members and employees discovering that “one or more players [were] entering private contests via a loophole.” A warning was issued that “anyone entering a private contest for which they did not use a standard contest entry link will be subject to at least a one week ban from FanDuel.” Well, that ban was already issued to one user, a prominent member of the FanDuel community: Ohmsy. Apparently these users have been circumventing the URLs for password-protected, private games in the community and entering some for a cash buy-in. This work-around compromises the security of the private game format. (Read More)

  • NBA Weekly Preview

    alt

We have officially entered the Twilight Zone in fantasy basketball. Just when you think you know a guy, the rug gets ripped out from underneath you. Kevin Love’s insane double-double streak ends at 53. Blake Griffin suddenly can’t post a single double-double. And on the other side of the fantasy spectrum, Chris Paul, a seemingly injured and sinking spirit, has returned to dominance as if his career has depended on it. (Read More)

  • NBA Monday: FSL Target Picks

    alt

We’ve got a larger than usual Monday coming up, with nine games slated to go down. A large player pool like today’s allows one more flexibility to get an edge on the competition. Player Prices on FSL are calculated based on that player’s seasonal average, therefore it’s important (and easier) to target players that have recently stepped into larger roles (a la’ Psycho T). Here’s a list of players who’s recent performance is outshining their season-long price or might have particularly good matchups this evening: (Read More)

  • Emge Emerges - Jumps 18 Spots in Rankings

    alt

Emge isn’t one of the biggest names in Daily Fantasy, well not yet. If he keeps burning the competition at this rate – he might be a Top 10 Grinder before we know it. Our highest rankings climb is usually around 7-8 spots per week, but thanks to some huge Large-Field scores, Emge was able to jump an impressive 18 spots last week! Highlighting his week were three Top 10 scores in just two days (March 4th and 5th) – all of which were over $100. This brings his total winnings to $5,667.28 and puts him at 53rd in the worldwide Grinder Rankings. Congrats on the huge week Emge! (Read More)

  • Look Out! It's Rudzilla!

    alt

Rudzia555 has rightfully earned one of the best nicknames in the industry. Rudzia555 is often called Rudzilla, supposedly for the terror he causes all of us, average players, across the Daily Fantasy world. Well, now he’s come to RotoGrinders to terrorize the rankings, and ‘Rudzilla’ has made an impressive debut at the #2 spot with just under 100,000 Grinder points. Rudzia555 has racked up over $197,000 in winnings across the big four sports on FanDuel, DraftStreet, FSL and 365, he plays the highest stakes available, is one of the biggest winners around – and he’s only been playing for 5 months. Recently, I chatted with Rudzia about his debut on RotoGrinders, and he told me… (Read More)

  • NHL: FanDuel Value Picks

    alt

If you’re a regular fantasy hockey player on Fanduel, you know that putting together a quality roster under the daily cap is never a simple job. More than most other sites, Fanduel’s salary structure is challenging to the point where you just can’t stack your team at every position. Even if you go cheap on defense, you’re still required to budget wisely on offense and goaltending to field a roster. So, finding quality value picks at the bottom of the page are critical to winning here. This week, I’ll zero in on the players most worth targeting at a price under $6k. (Read More)

Bad luck certainly continues to strike many fantasy basketball gamers in the daily field, which makes our NBA Weekly Preview even more important this week. • Wednesday Tip-Off: GPPs and Large-Fields

    alt

Tippy pulled his hammy trying to show off in a pick-up game last night, so you’re stuck with me again! Let’s get this Wednesday going! Wednesday is to the NBA what Sunday is to the NFL. So, we’ve got a great offering of GPPs across the sites, and I’m going to help those lineups out for you today with some high-upside value picks. Speaking of GPPs, I haven’t made up my mind yet as to whether I’m going to jump on board the newly coined term by DraftStreet ‘GPP’ (Guaranteed Prize Pool), or the popular title of ‘Large-Fields’. This could be a tussle. Let me know which title you like in the comment box below. Let’s get this going. Here’s my list of value plays you should be using in the GPP-Large-Fields today, and the GPPLFs you should be playing: (Read More)
