There are also plenty of good pitching options tonight so make sure to choose wisely. Here are our plays for the night games: Read More

Tonight’s picks are meant to give you some of the cheaper value plays as well as give you some of the more expensive hitters that should have big games. • Closer Report: May 21st

    alt

Another week that comes with one official closer change and one change that seems less than official. In the big news, Aroldis Chapman has been handed the keys to close. He is one of the most exciting pitchers in baseball and has HUGE strikeout potential. He will be a good play on most nights closing out for the Reds. The other ‘change’ is a confirmation that Scott Downs will continue to close out games for the Angels despite the concerns surrounding his ability to finish out games. For awhile, the Angels had even listed Ernesto Frieri as the closer after Jordan Walden failed to lock down the job, but it appears that Scott Downs has proven he deserves to keep getting the final chance for Los Angeles. My apologies for anyone left scrambling to replace Jeff Keppinger yesterday, the injury was missed and it was a bad recommendation. Hopefully you got him out of your line up in time. The rest of the picks more than made up for it, Scherzer one upped his 10K potential to strike out 15 Pirates, Zack Greinke cruised past the Twins for an easy win with an insane amount of run support. 500 Clubber Ryan Braun had a big day. Also got a multi hit game off Cliff Lee from Adrian Gonzalez. Jed Lowrie even chipped in a HR. Top pitching pick Lincecum continues to disappoint and a health issue could be whats going on with Timmy, when you struggle against Oakland something is clearly wrong. Today we move forward with Mr. Joey Bats headlining our picks. (Read More)

Welcome to Sunday’s NBA Daily Plays, where every team left in these playoffs will be on the court either Sunday or Monday. Since there were some confusing back-to-backs and a general lack of games, there were no daily plays yesterday. So we can go nuts today giving out the best expected players. Although at this point, the stars in these series have pretty much proven themselves! (Read More)

Daily plays today will honor members of the 500 Club. What exactly is the 500 Club? Just some club made up for the purpose of this daily plays article? Absolutely not, the 500 Club is right up there with the MLB Hall of Fame, every kid dreams of being in the 500 Club from as early as the first time they go 3 for 4 off another kid in little league. 500 Club members all are hitting over .500 against the opposing starting pitcher. Who is in this legendary club? 5 hitters are locked in as star members (over 10 at bats) and a few more are on the verge of being inducted. Spend your Sunday Funday at the 500 Club and induct yourself into daily fantasy greatness by using the 500 Club members to inflate your bankroll. (Read More)

During interleague is a little more difficult to find great batter vs. pitcher stats, but I managed to find a couple of situations that look ripe for the picking. From a starting pitching perspective, there doesn’t really look like a no brain option for today. Clayton Kershaw usual falls into that category, but some Cardinals success against him in the past makes me a little nervous to pay the price on him. Here is a look at our Daily Plays for Saturday. It’s redemption time for our daily picks. Daily Fantasy Basketball in the playoffs is tough because you see a lot of overlap on rosters and any player can have a bad game (see Dwyane Wade last night). It also seems like the playoffs require a lot more gut picks than the regular season did when you could actually analyze the players and matchups. But while our picks of Bron and Wade didn’t pan out at all last night, we are hoping to make up for it today with these picks. Here we go: (Read More)

Another DFBC day is upon us. Last week, we basically gift wrapped a winning roster by suggesting an A’s stack. I don’t particularly see a similarly enticing opportunity this week, so we’ll have to try to hack something together piece by piece. The picks in this space have generally been pretty good of late. For my money, the best play on the board is the gentleman pictured to the left. He should have some fun with the Pirates tonight. (Read More)

This is turning out to be a playoffs that is very exciting and very dull at the same time. Off the court drama is at an all time high, yet on the court we are seeing a few more blowouts then we would like. It will be interesting to see how the Lakers and the 76ers bounce back, I think that they both will come out swinging so I like a few of them in the daily plays. Today’s daily picks will be based on Draftstreet’s 2-Day league salaries and scoring. (Read More)

Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E” from way back in 2001 is the theme song for today’s Daily Plays. Albert Pujols is STILL Albert Pujols, this week he is looking more and more like himself and the window to get him at a bargain price is closing. Who would have thought that Roy Halladay would be involved in a pitching match up where the starters have combined to go winless in 23 straight starts, sure 18 of those are the wangster Chris Volstad but The Doc (Halladay not Dre) has stuggled his past 5. He is STILL Roy Halladay and some payback against the Cubs is coming. Look for Arizona middle of the order hitters Justin Upton and Miguel Montero to prove they STILL got it also today in Coors Field. Hope you enjoy the daily plays and hopefully you have that Dre song now stuck in your head. (Read More)

We are hoping to bounce back with our daily picks after a rough day yesterday. The picks were bad right from the start as Strasburg got lit up and only lasted 4 innings. Then we had Nelson Cruz getting the night off and most of the other hitters contributing to the bad picks as best as they could. But that is just the nature of fantasy baseball, it’s very up and down. However, today’s picks are going to make up for yesterdays. (Read More)

I have decided to mix things up and give an actual lineup for the 2 day games on FanDuel tonight. My goal is to take some the biggest studs in the game, and all in all, I’m pretty excited to be able to get a decent team with Durant, LeBron, and Wade. Good luck and here are the picks. (Read More)

  • RotoTalk: No Time? Build a Winner Anyway

    alt

As Grinders, we often dedicate significant time and effort into building our daily fantasy baseball lineups. We’re serious. We want to win every day. Sometimes, though, you just don’t have the time to scour all of the stats and angles before the lineup deadline. That doesn’t mean you can’t still field a lineup and get a little action on the day. Today, we’ll discuss a no-frills approach that, while unlikely to field the day’s optimal lineup, is likely to give you a competitive squad. (Read More)

  • Daily NBA Plays: May 15, 2012 (2-Day Playoffs)

    alt

This Tuesday’s NBA Daily Plays will be a two-day edition, because the only remaining NBA leagues around have to be multi-day events. In the next two days(Tuesday and Wednesday) every remaining team will be playing. For those of you out of the loop, the Spurs host the Clippers and the Heat host the Pacers on Tuesday. Wednesday features the Celtics going to the 76ers and the Lakers visiting the Thunder. It’s the Conference Semifinals, meaning it is probably your last chance to play daily fantasy basketball this season. Let’s get some daily plays, but first let’s take a look at the two-day guys from yesterday who have yet to play. (Read More)

  • Closer Report: May 14th

    alt

There have been fifteen closer changes since the opening of Spring Training. If your daily fantasy baseball is on DraftStreet or FantasyFeud, you need to be up to date on all of the latest, breaking closer news. This is the first edition of the Closer Report. The Closer Report lists Team, Player, Job Security, Second Option and if a change has taken place with its reasoning. Job Security is ranked on a scale of extremely low to extremely high. The changes in the closer role are split between performance based changes (P) and injury based changes (DL). Hopefully this chart can serve as a useful tool, but be sure to always check who has been over-used lately and that might be the right night to pick up a second option guy for dirt cheap. Good luck and keep on grinding. (Read More)

We can now add FanDuel to the list of sites with 2-Day NBA playoff action for Daily Fantasy Players. I much prefer this format with twice the number of players to choose from which limits some of the overlap. Injuries to Chris Bosh and Blake Griffin are something to consider when putting your teams together tonight. Good luck and here are today’s plays. (Read More)
