  • NBA Daily Plays: Feb 3, 2012

Welcome to the Feb. 3 edition of Rotogrinders Daily NBA Plays. I really think there are some great options at the center position tonight, but unfortunately you can only start one unless you are playing on a site with flex positions. I’m also finding it a little tougher to find the deep sleepers with many guys coming back from injuries. Here is what I like tonight. Read More

  • NHL Thursday: Goalie Picks for DraftStreet

    alt

The first step to compiling a winning NHL roster on Draftstreet is to pick a winner in net. With 3 points on the table for a win and 2 more for a shutout, it should be obvious that selecting the man with the best chance of earning a W is a good place to start. Draftstreet weighs saves more heavily than most other daily sites, which is a good thing, so keep in mind you’ll want to favor goalies who see a lot of shots (and tend to stop them). (Read More)

  • NBA Daily Plays: Feb 2, 2012

Welcome to the Feb. 2 edition of Rotogrinders Daily NBA Plays. For tonight’s games, I have selected players based on their salaries on Draftstreet, but these players should still have value on other sites as well. I’m really big on the Nuggets Clippers game tonight so try to get as many players on those teams as you can. (Read More)

  • Monday NBA Tipps: 25 Bargain Roster Options for Week 6

    alt

We’re already a quarter of the way through the NBA season and the injuries just keep piling up. Fortunately, for us daily players, this creates opportunity rather than destroying our entire season. I’ve put together a list of some very undervalued players who could see solid action this week and make great roster filler to allow you to draft those higher priced studs. Here’s the bargain shopping list for week 6: (Read More)

  • Super Joust NBA 101: Strategies For Qualifying

    alt

When the news arrived that Daily Joust was going to run another Super Joust contest for basketball season, I was obviously pretty excited. If you don’t know, I had a pretty solid showing in the inaugural Super Joust and took home about $6,000 in cash and a pair of Super Bowl tickets (which I parlayed into another $5,000). It was without question the most exciting, yet stressful time I’ve had playing Daily Fantasy, but now it’s time to defend the crown. This time around they are doing another $10,000 prize pool with winner also getting a pair of tickets to the NBA Finals. (Read More)

  • NBA Monday Tipps: Fanduel Tournament Stars and Scrubs

    alt

It seems like there are so many mispriced players this season due to injuries that the ‘stars and scrubs’ strategy is clearly the way to play, especially GPP tournaments. I think the injuries are more the result of less recovery time between games than due to the lack of preseason, but it’s possible that it’s also a result of going from zero (no camp) to sixty (4 games per week) in one month flat. Whatever the cause, I’ve put together some nice scrubs that will let you fill your roster elsewhere with studs. Good luck. (Read More)

  • NBA DraftStreet Value Projections: Sat, Jan 21

    alt

Here are the Grinders Incentives projections for DraftStreet NBA tonight. They are sorted by the $/Point column, but make sure to also look at the player’s projected points as well while building your lineups. Note that CJ Watson’s value is entirely dependent on whether Derrick Rose plays or not. Make sure to check for player news or discuss good plays in the RG Forums up until and before Game Time and adjust accordingly for any GTDs. Good luck tonight! (Read More)

  • NHL Thursday: Line Stacking Strategies

    alt

Hockey is undeniably a team game. That certainly carries over to fantasy hockey in a big way. It’s rare to see a player stand out on his own, without a linemate or two either contributed to, or benefitting from that success. Either way you look at it, it makes sense when setting your fantasy lineup on Draftstreet to add players to your roster is pairs or trios. While most teams mix and match lines on a regular basis early in the season, by this point, there are some clear cut lines that have been established. Some of these lines have been quite productive for fantasy players to target. Here are the top ten current NHL line combinations to target on Draftstreet this week: (Read More)

  • NFL Conference Finals Player Projections

    alt

We usually post just the player projections for one site or one position each NFL week, but since it’s the final week of Daily Fantasy NFL Season, we decided the heck with it! So here are the customized player projections for FanDuel, DraftStreet and Daily Joust. With only four teams left in the field, it’s an interesting situation for the NFL Grinders out there. The salaries have been adjusted accordingly on each site making for some tough decisions; You’re not going to be able to employ the stack the Patriots method this week, without having to use the Patriots Running Backs as well! • NBA Monday Tipps: 20 Daily Fantasy Bargains for Week Four

    alt

I decided to strictly play with a ‘stars and scrubs’ strategy last week and the results were much better than the results I was getting with the more balanced lineup. One thing I didn’t consider early in the season was how many injuries would accumulate with the new compressed schedule of 8-10 games every night. I’m not sure if the players aren’t in shape due to missing camp or if the lack of proper rest between games is causing the injuries. Whatever the case, those injuries are producing 4 or 5 great low priced scrub plays just about every night. I’ve picked out some low priced guys to target this week who should be great value. • Introduction to DraftDay NBA

    alt

DraftDay’s NBA game is in full-effect now, so I thought it would be good to give an intro to our readers to the nuances of their NBA game since there’s always a learning curve involved when hopping onto a new Daily Fantasy site. We haven’t had much coverage of DraftDay here on RotoGrinders yet, and I really don’t know why. This site and playerbase are great, and personally I will be upping my NBA play on the site moving forward. The DraftDay NBA scoring system is unique (see table below), so you can get a good edge if you pay attention to the nuances, DD is doing a great job of recruiting new players to the industry through their connections with the Poker industry so the competition is relatively softer than some other sites, and they run a daily World B Free $100 NBA Freeroll! What more can you ask for? (Read More)

  • NHL Thursday: DraftStreet Value Plays Under $9k

    alt

Finding value picks on Draftstreet can be a real challenge, as they stay on top of current player values better than other sites. This makes fielding a stacked roster nearly impossible. If you want to add some elite forwards to your game, you need to fill that Flex position and a couple other slots with bargain players. While these guys won’t carry the load, if you place them right, you can squeeze out a few points on the cheap. Here are a handful of players priced under 9k to squeeze in when you’re up against the cap: (Read More)

  • Monday Tipps: Week Three Daily Fantasy Bargains

    alt

I hope you guys had a profitable first two weeks of the daily fantasy basketball season. If you did, you’ve been doing better than me. Seems like the fatigue of crazy back to back to back scheduling, unexpected DNP’s and injuries all found me last week, turning my play into breakeven, but that’s how streaky daily fantasy can be. Last week I stuck with using a balanced roster strategy, trying to get solid performances from usually reliable players, but that doesn’t seem to be the best strategy early this season. I had much better luck using a strategy of rostering the dependable studs and filling in a few holes with gambles, which mostly paid off. I’ve set out some guys below who are perfect for filling the holes in your roster during week three. Good luck this week and Roll Tide! (Read More)

  • NHL Thursday: Intro to DraftStreet NHL for the NFL Player

    alt

With fantasy football season coming to an end, daily fantasy players may be looking for another option to fill the void. Jumping into the NHL action can be challenging, as you may not even know where to begin. This week, I’ll walk you through my thought processes as I compose what I hope to be a winning roster for head to head competition on Draftstreet this evening. After catching up on last night’s scores and fantasy results, my first stop is to check the injury/suspension report, to make sure I’m not wasting a spot with an inactive player. Countless sites offer this information. I prefer TSN, as they keep it up to date and all one nice page. A few recent notes to stash in your head: (Read More)
