NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, April 4
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
tcsmith031: De’Aaron Fox – Fox’s median projection isn’t all that different from that of Jalen Brunson, yet Fox is projected for a fraction of Brunson’s ownership. Fox is also boasting a usage rate north of 30%, and we have him projected to play 2 more minutes than Brunson in the same game. He looks like a strong pivot in tournaments with comparable upside.
squirrelpatrol: Jalen Johnson – If you weren’t paying attention to basketball last night, you may have missed Malachi Flynn scoring 50 real-life points off the bench, but Johnson actually outscored Flynn for fantasy purposes with a 28-point, 14-rebound, 11-assist triple-double. It was Johnson’s first start since suffering an ankle injury in mid-March, and he is now averaging 1.17 DK points per minute with Trae Young off the court this season.
headChopper: Stephen Curry – If you have glanced at my previous blurbs, you know I am bullish on this game. It has the best combination of factors of any game and would be high on my radar on a large slate. But this is a small slate, so even better. For as much as the Rockets need to win, the Warriors want to win to be able to move on from this playoff battle and get some rest next week before the Play-In Tournament rolls around. Curry projects to be a low-owned star player on a small slate. He accounts for so much of their offense that I think in this game environment, he could land a big score in GPPs.
eys819: De’Aaron Fox – Fox is an excellent leverage play off Jalen Brunson at the same position and very similar salary. The Kings need to keep winning if they hope to avoid the Play-In Tournament, so Fox should be in line for big minutes. The matchup is not ideal against the Knicks, but the pOWN% and game environment make Fox a great play.
