The White Mamba Chronicles: NBA Tuesday 2/14 GPP Plays

Welcome to a special Valentine’s day edition of the White Mamba Chronicles. Since I am the real world Jackie Moon and I believe that “everybody love everybody” I feel it fitting to spread the love and play the role of fantasy cupid. Except instead of pairing you with a beautiful lady, I will pair you with some top notch fantasy players that may guide you to victory. Who knows, maybe you will win some money. Then, if you’re anything like me, you can make up for the lack of gift your special someone didn’t receive on V-day.
Scal’s Sleepers
(NY-F) Jared Jeffries: Let’s be honest. Jeremy Lin is no longer a sleeper. He costs in the range of Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol, and Marc Gasol on DraftStreet. Point Guards in his range include John Wall, Steve Nash, and John Wall. Now before you blindly get wrapped up in Linsanity, ask yourself the real question. With Amare Stoudemire back in the lineup, does Lin offer the same value as the guys that I just named? His time is up, it’s time to jump off the bandwagon before you get hurt. But Jeffries has consistently put up around 15-20 fantasy points the past couple of games and even with Stoudemire back, Jeffries will still see good minutes. You want a sleeper on the Knicks? Here’s your best bet.
- Derrick Favors – Utah is going to be rounding out the last game of a back-to-back-to-back stretch. While that hasn’t proven to be too devastating for the teams who have gone through it so far(teams are 28-26 in stretches of 3 straight games this season) it doesn’t mean that bench players haven’t found a nice spot in the final game. Big guys more so than guards are bound to need a little rest, so look for Favors to get some nice minutes and pick-up some good fantasy scores.
- Kevin Martin – I was all prepared to write a big piece about Goran Dragic slowly taking over Martin’s place in the lineup gradually. I was gonna say that Dragic is a more consistent player who has been a bench warmer his whole career and deserves a chance at starter minutes. While this might not be true, Martin finally broke out of his slump last night and blew up for 28 points. When I look back at his game history, he defines streakiness. He started hot, got hurt and played a few rough games, then bounced back. He then hit his recent slump, but I truly believe the big game on Sunday night will lead to a hot streak. Jump on it.
White Mamba Filling The Holes In Your Lineup Players
- Marcus Thornton – The Bulls may be without Derrick Rose but even if he plays, his focus will be stopping Tyreke Evans. One of the biggest holes in the Bulls lineups all season has been a solid shooting guard to accompany Rose, Boozer, and Noah. They’ve tried out C.J. Watson, John Lucas, and others but I don’t think anyone on that team can cover the microwave that is Marcus Thornton, outside of Rose himself. But like I said, if Rose plays he follows Tyreke Evans all day and Thornton is there to pick up the slack.
- Nick Young – He’s really the only player I like on the Wizards right now, because he has been fairly consistent. That’s not something John Wall or JaVale McGee can say, and they both worry me for the price they cost you and the downside they have. Nick Young is the consistent, strong play that will help your lineup. Boom book it.

lol lets see how many points this trash lineup gets
one of the upsides of also writing the ranking articles is that i study them up and down. and jbrown, you cant be found anywhere. sorry you don’t like the picks, but feel free to not read anymore. ill take your advice when you can actually win some money in daily fantasy.
until then feel free to not read my stuff anymore, i don’t wanna help people like you improve. i wanna help people who actually know and respect daily fantasy
Hey man I like your lineup. But don’t you think Jeffries is a little overpriced now as well at $7,305? It’ll be difficult for him to exceed 15 FP now that Amare is back.
jeffries is definitely getting close to the overpay range…the thing with him though is that on DS he’s listed at the forward spot but he really plays the shooting guard/small forward position
his minutes are more affected by carmello than amare, that would be my guess. but without a doubt he’s the biggest concern in that lineup
kevin martin – 3.75
jeffries – 4.75
jefferson – 17.5
boozer – 21.75
gay – 34
thornton – 24.75
young –
bynum –
right now ur at 106.5. u will need about 50 pts each from bynum and young to even reach 200 pts (2:1 value)
I just wanted to say thank you haskele. its guys like u (and the people that listen to u) that allow guys like me to make money on these sites.

it happens. you have bad nights. i made some picks that didn’t pan out. its all part of the game. i’m not mad about it and you actually made me feel a lot better about it cuz at least im not picking fights on other people’s hard work. i play this every night, and with that comes bad picks and great picks. feel free to read and comment on whatever you please in the future. thanks for your input
thanks for inviting me to comment. let me explain why your bad. first you talked as if marcus thornton had a good matchup. HE DIDNT. the bulls are one of the best defenses in the nba. Ronnie Brewer and Deng are both excellent perimeter defenders. Rose would never gueard thornton so idk why that would matter anyways. Another thing. Why would u reccomend to take favors and then omit him from ur lineup. On top of that, why would u play jefferson if you think big guys will have limited minutes. Next, u said jared jeffries had 25 pts consistently over his last couple games. DO U KNOW WHAT CONSISTENT MEANS??? you cant prove consistency in only 2 games. Also jeffries picks up amare’s minutes, not melos as we saw last night if it wasnt obvious already. and for the record ur original lineup had amare and david west, both horrible plays yesterday
lemme try and sort out your angry rant about my picks, because as a valued reader I genuinely care what you think…
1) Marcus Thornton had a good matchup because, with Rose out, guards have had success against Chicago. Case and point: On Sunday Rajon Rondo put up a triple double and Ray Allen had a ton of open looks. Just because he didn’t hit them doesn’t mean the defense was incredible. Also, Rose wouldn’t guard Thornton but the best defender picked up Tyreke and with Rose out that leaves a weaker option to cover Thornton.
2) Derrick Favors was a recommendation that I liked, but I’m not going to play all of the guys I recommend. I like to recommend other options for guys beyond what I am personally taken. In retrospect I wish I had taken him, but that didn’t happen. Every night there’s decisions to be made, I made a bad one.
3)Before last night, Jared Jeffries scored for his past five games were as follows: 22.5, 27.25, 2.5, 25, 23.5. One bad game in his past five. Average those, its 20.15 points. That’s consistency over the past 10-15 days. Also, I thought Jeffries would stay in the rotation more despite Amare being back and that Bill Walker would lose the majority of minutes. Jeffries is a hybrid forward who can play smaller slots. I didn’t think Amare’s return would hurt him as bad as it did. At least my logic wasn’t flawed.
4)I had David West and Amare yesterday when I wrote the lineup, but I looked further into it and decided they weren’t solid plays.
*The bottom line is I was wrong about Jeffries. Thornton is a hit or miss player on any given night, I took a chance on him and was wrong. Rudy Gay blew up. Boozer had a great night minus his foul trouble. Bynum exploded. Nick Young was a great pick. Kevin Martin was hurt and I’ve decided never to touch a Rick Adelman-coached team again. My logic was solid. It turned out to be a bad night.
Get over yourself man, you aren’t a fantasy guru. You wanna put yourself anywhere near that leader board and maybe I’ll start to hear you out. But you gotta win some money before anyone respects you around here. I’ve done that even with my broke college kid money supply. You haven’t.
