Jim Adduci Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Detroit can offer bats or arms depending on lineup goals

Interestingly, the Tigers (4.68) and White Sox (4.32) are two of the three teams above four implied runs on Thursday afternoon. However, if players want exposure to the top offense on the slate, they'll probably also have to consider exposure to either Matt Boyd or James Shields in this game, especially on DraftKings. Neither really exceeds a league average strikeout rate (Boyd 21.8%, Shields 18.2%), but Shields has failed to complete six innings just three times since April (once by a single out) and is facing an offense with a 78 wRC+ and 8.2 HR/FB vs RHP, while Boyd has a .291 xwOBA and 86.4 mph aEV and is in a higher upside matchup (White Sox 18+ K-BB% on the road and vs LHP). The other side of this is that players are going to need bats from this game if paying up for the top arms this afternoon. Avisail Garcia (160 wRC+, .244 ISO vs LHP last calendar year) is the top overall bat from the Chicago side and very affordable. Ryan LaMarre and Jose Rondon both bat in the front five this afternoon. Neither has even 30 PAs against LHP, but both are below $3K on either site. Boyd has held RHBs to a .283 wOBA this season. The Detroit lineup has Nick Castellanos (118 wRC+, .222 ISO vs RHP last calendar year), Jim Adduci (112 wRC+, .150 ISO) and Jeimer Candelario (98 wRC+, .166 ISO) all in the top half with only Castellanos above $4K on DraftKings. RHBs have a .325 wOBA against Shields this season, but LHBs have a .359 xwOBA, 60 points above their actual mark against him this season.

Failure to miss bats along with hard contact (.421 xwOBA, 11.4% Barrels/BBE) is a bad combination

Only Jim Adduci (109 wRC+, .161 ISO) and Nick Castellanos (117 wRC+, .226 ISO) have been above average hitters against RHP over the last calendar year. The latter additionally has a 180 wRC+ and 64.7 Hard% over the last week. However, Ervin Santana has allowed 15 runs and six HRs over his 20.2 innings this year. He has not exceeded a 5 SwStr% since his first start (6.2%) and has allowed 11.4% Barrels/BBE with a .421 xwOBA through four starts. Adduci is a very cheap bat in the two spot tonight. Jeimer Candelario (97 wRC+, .162 ISO) and Niko Goodrum (88 wRC+, .213 ISO) could be worth some exposure as well here and a Detroit stack might not be terrible.

Cheap Dodger RHBs provide a path to Corey Kluber on FanDuel

Cheap Dodger bats (at least on FanDuel) may help provide a path to Corey Kluber. Kike Hernandez (153 wRC+, .376 ISO vs LHP this year) and Austin Barnes (133 wRC+, .275 ISO vs LHP) each have a massive difference in cost between DraftKings and FanDuel, where both are just a bit above the minimum. Sean Newcomb has been just average against RHBs (.314 wOBA, 30.9 Hard%) with some major control issues as of late. Jim Adduci (104 wRC+, .164 ISO vs RHP) bats second against Chris Tillman and costs less than $3K on either site. Jesse Winker (244 wRC+, 57.1 Hard%) is another great cheap play on either site out of the two hole also against Chad Kuhl (LHBs .374 wOBA, 36.8 Hard% since last season). Logan Forsythe (153 wRC+, .177 ISO vs LHP) and Max Kepler (121 wRC+, .201 ISO vs RHP) are both right around or below $3K on either site.

Jim Adduci scratched from Tigers lineup; Andrew Romine will start in his place

Adduci has been scratched from the Detroit Tigers lineup for tonight's game against the Los Angeles Angels due to an undisclosed reason. In his place, Andrew Romine will play center field and bat eighth, sliding Tyler Collins over to right field. This lineup change moves Collins and James McCann up one spot in the batting order and they are now hitting sixth and seventh respectively.

Three LH Detroit bats are below $3K on either site against Pelfrey (LHBs .373 wOBA since 2015)

Unlike most of the week, Friday is not lacking in affordable bats all over the lineup, which is great considering the pitchers many will be paying up for. The top value spot is certainly in Detroit, where the Tigers are forced to play cheap LHBs against Mike Pelfrey (LHBs .373 wOBA since 2015). Ty Collins (108 wRC+, .159 ISO vs RHP since 2015) bats 2nd, while Alex Avila (113 wRC+, .167 ISO) bats lower in the lineup, but Catcher is generally a position players are willing to go a bit further down for to save salary. Both, along with Jim Adduci (259 wRC+ last seven days) are all below $3K on either site. Matt Joyce (123 wRC+, .219 ISO vs RHP since 2015) is back in the two spot for the A's ($2.5K or less), while Jaff Decker leads off for barely the minimum. Darwin Barney is in the two spot for the Jays tonight and just above the minimum on either site. Joey Rickard (121 wRC+, .172 ISO vs LHP) costs the minimum on FD ($2.9K on DK) out of the leadoff spot against Sabathia. Players can also watch the Dodger lineup to see if Cody Bellinger is in the leadoff spot again ($3.1K DK, $2.3K FD) with massive power potential.

First base is a power house tonight, but consider LH Detroit bats as salary savers

If Eric Thames (214 wRC+, .439 ISO vs RHP) is in the lineup (hamstring), he may be the top bat on the board against Bartolo Colon (.323 wOBA, 33.2 Hard% vs RHBs since 2015), though First Base is a power house tonight. Joey Votto (166 wRC+, .246 ISO vs RHP since 2015) faces Lance Lynn (LHBs .350 wOBA since 2015) and Trey Mancini (158 wRC+, .389 ISO vs LHP) may get a shot at C.C. Sabathia (RHBs .340 wOBA since 2015) on the cheap at Yankee Stadium. Paul Goldschmidt (176 wRC+, .234 ISO vs LHP since 2015) may be the most popular bat as part of an Arizona stack against rookie Kyle Freeland in Arizona, though RHBs haven't really been very proficient against this lefty so far (.309 wOBA, 27.6 Hard%). The Diamonbacks just have an easily stackable lineup against LHP at home (Yasmany Tomas 143 wRC+, .257 ISO career, A.J. Pollock 132 wRC+, .211 ISO since 2015) and even Chris Owings (114 wRC+, .178 ISO since last season) and Brandon Drury (203 wRC+ over the last week) to help save some salary. Where players might really save some money tonight is in Detroit, where Mike Pelfrey (LHBs .373 wOBA since 2015) starts for the White Sox and the Tigers are forced to play some lesser known LHBs due to injuries. Certainly consider Tyler Collins (108 wRC+, .159 ISO vs RHP since 2015) and Alex Avila (113 wRC+, .167 ISO vs RHP since 2015) or even Jim Adduci if in the lineup tonight, especially in the top half. All three cost less than $3K on either site and have a wRC+ above 200 over the last seven days.
