Cheap center looks for duplicate performance against Penguins

The Ducks have lost nine consecutive games. In fact, the last time they won was three weeks ago against this same Pittsburgh team. Since then, Pittsburgh has been on fire while the Ducks have gone cold including a miserable effort against Ottawa last time out. In the Ducks and Penguins meeting last month, Henrique had a goal and an assist, and with two stud lines worth targeting tonight, Henrique provides some much needed salary relief as he and his linemates get the best matchup of any of Anaheim's lines tonight. Adam is a low-owned contrarian option on this short four game slate.

This winger has been fantastic since returning from injury.

Ondrej Kase didn't play his first game until November 12th, but he's amassed 19 points in 25 games including a team-leading 11 goals (tied with Pontus Aberg). He has spent some time on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell, but he is currently slated to play on the Anaheim Ducks "third" line with Nick Ritchie and Adam Henrique. Taking on an Ottawa Senators team that allows a league-worst 67.0 CA/60 and has a 43.86 CF% which also ranks 31st. Kase plays on the top power play unit but Henrique and Ritchie play on the second unit which allows for a mini-correlation there.

Sometimes playing in a depth role is more beneficial

Adam Henrique has been pretty much the third line centre in Anaheim since arriving there in a trade earlier in the season. However, playing in the depth role should serve him well tonight in a home game against the Dallas Stars. Dallas does not have that much depth up front and often stack the top line which depletes their depth even more. Tonight, the third line for Anaheim consisting of Henrique, Ondrej Kase and Nick Ritchie could be a great, cheap play to allow you to pay up for some of the more expensive stud lines.

Henrique a Great Play if Getzlaf Out

The use of Henrique is dependent on whether or not Ryan Getzlaf can suit up tonight (illness, did not wash his hands). If Getzlaf is in than this spot is his. The common thread between Henrique and Getzlaf is centering the top line for Anaheim. Tonight brings forth a favorable matchup with the sieve-like Edmonton blueline. Talent has always been in question among the Edmonton defensive group, but the wheels have really fallen off with regard to the metrics. In the last month, no team is allowing more scoring chances or high-danger shot attempts per hour at 5v5, and only four other teams allow more gross shot attempt volume. Add in a favorable power play matchup (Henrique plays on the top unit regardless) and there is a nice value boost for the Anaheim power play skaters. Again we see a quality control issue with the Oilers as they have fifth highest rate of HD shot attempts allowed per hour. Henrique is a slam dunk value play if Getzlaf is out but still carries standalone value if Getzlaf is in, given that Henrique retains a spot on the top power play and will get a weak Edmonton depth group from his sneaky-good third line position.

Anaheim's mid-season trade paying dividends

The Ducks acquired Adam Henrique for his strong two-way game, but he's proving to still be very dangerous offensively. Henrique potted a pair of goals in Anaheim's impressive 3-1 win over Boston on Tuesday night and has now racked up six goals and two assists during his current six game point streak. To make him even more appealing this evening, he'll face an Ottawa team that looks to be in the midst of a free-fall and he'll get to attack their ugly 74.6% penalty kill as the center of the Duck's top power-play unit.
