A regular complaint for some DFS players is that there are too many roster requirements and players to choose from, causing hours upon hours of research to fill a roster of up to 12 players. Swoopt offers these people some new game types such as the “Quick 3” and the “Gimme 5.” We outline the specifics of each below, but rest assured they are simple enough for casual players, but also entice veterans as well. Swoopt has plenty to offer other than these game types including an easy to learn interface and dedicated mobile applications.

This Swoopt review will cover the game offerings, promotions, scoring, user experience, and customer service that you can expect with Swoopt. If you still need a Swoopt account, sign up through one of our links to be eligible for future promotions. No Swoopt promo code is needed.

Game Offerings

Swoopt is a new site that currently offers MLB Daily games, but NFL action will be coming in September as well. It looks as though the other two major professional sports (NBA and NHL) will be offered in season too. Clicking “Play Now” on the main menu takes you to a metro-style (think Windows 8) interface with squares to chose your sport. When selecting an option, you will see several options including featured contests, which are generally promoted tournaments with larger prizes. Selecting the sport type or game type (Quick 3, Gimme5, etc.) will let you search for other game options including Head-to-head, Double-Ups, 5-man/10-man tournaments, and larger GPPs. As the site continues to grow, we will see more and more game offerings.

Quick 3, Gimme 5

We teased it in the introduction, but Swoopt has created a few game types to breathe fresh life into the DFS industry. The concept of the Quick 3 and Gimme 5 is simple. Instead of selecting an entire roster, you just select 3 or 5 players, depending on your game type. For baseball, you select one infielder, one outfielder, and one pitcher for the Quick 3. The Gimme 5 adds an additional infielder and outfielder to the mix. There is a salary cap, but not other restrictions apply. If you want to take all 5 players from the same team, there is nothing telling you that you can’t do it! The other offering is the Full 9, which is similar to other DFS sites where you build a complete lineup of players with positional limitations in play.

Promotions and Special Events

Even though Swoopt is a relatively new site, they have wasted no time getting into the special event arena. As baseball is in season, Swoopt is offering their “$100,000 Grand Slam” Promotion, which gives away (you guessed it) $100,000 in prizes, including a first prize of $25,000. The event should be a big hit and sets the precedent of big things to come as football is right around the corner.

Roster, Rules, and Scoring

Those familiar with FanDuel’s scoring system will be right at home with Swoopt as they are nearly identical. The only difference is that a win for a pitcher is worth 5 points instead of 4. All other scoring is the same for baseball. For a detailed listing of scoring, see the “Scoring” tab on this page or go to the Swoopt MLB Scoring for further information.

User Experience

Swoopt has clearly put a lot of time and effort into making the user experience a top priority. The metro-style look is appealing to the eye, although some DFS veterans might find it too different for their liking. Newcomers to the daily game don’t know the difference and will likely enjoy the pleasing visually pleasing interface.

Contest Selection

Game Selection Screen

Selecting contests is very straight forward. When you login, you will be prompted to join a game under the “Play Now” section. While most other sites use a similar system of columns and rows with their offerings, Swoopt uses a visually appealing block approach where the details for each tournament is displayed as an overlay for each offering.

Lineup Composition

The lineup building process was easy to use. At the top, the applicable position will be selected and all eligible players will with shown on screen including their matchup, game time, and salary. As you select a player, it automatically moves to the next position until all of the positions have been filled. The default sorting order for the player pool is by salary, and there aren’t really any other filtering or sorting options. At first I couldn’t find player profile pages for each player. When you click on a player name, it simply selects them and moves on to the next position. If you click on a player image, however, some summary information on that player pops up. Unfortunately there is no game log on the pop up.

Mobile Support

Swoopt is ahead of other sites by miles in its mobile offerings. Not only does the site have an excellent mobile interface, it also has a dedicated mobile application for IOS and Android devices. The mobile experience is visually appealing, but more importantly brings functionality too. You can easily login, join leagues, see your results, and edit lineups from your mobile device.

Here’s a list of capabilities available on the mobile site or mobile application:

Customer Service

Currently Swoopt is available to be reached via email. There is a chat room, but is intended for player to player interaction versus help from the Swoopt staff. There is no phone or chat support at the current time.

Cashier Options and Deposit Bonuses

It is important for sites to give its customers a variety of reliable deposit and withdrawal options and Swoopt follows the precedent set by other sites and does not disappoint. Accepted payment types include: credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX) and PayPal. They offer instant deposits and swift payouts! There is a $10 minimum deposit and withdrawal and no maximum withdrawal.
