The Green Light Club: It's Fun Until They Lose Their Jobs

I know I’m not personally responsible, but I always feel somewhat guilty when a pitcher starts getting rocked so badly that he loses his rotation spot and maybe his career (Armando Galarraga, such a class act in that robbed no-hitter last year) or to where he has to leave his start “hurt” (looking at you Kyle Davies). Sometimes they have to completely transform themselves to avoid being feasted on every five nights (congratulations thus far in 2011, Charlie Morton, but I don’t think you’re through the weeds just yet). Using Contest Prices to Your Advantage in Draftstreet GPPs

I’d like to touch on something today that has helped me place in the Top 5 in four Draftstreet GPPs in the past 11 days. As everyone knows, taking bigger name guys is always going to be part of strategy, but it’s the random guys that win leagues. Lately I’ve been trying to get inside managers’ heads to understand what they’re doing. In some cases I didn’t have enough to go on and didn’t pull the trigger. But in other cases rather than stopping at: “Why the &%#!@ is batting 3rd?!” I’ve trusted my initial gut reaction, and the manager’s knowledge of that player and the situation, and played this intuition well.
