DraftTeam.com is brought to you by Intelimax, which operates in both the United States and Canada. They offer Daily and Weekly Fantasy Sports contests for cash prizes in all of the four major sports, and they’re starting to make a name for themselves in the DFS industry. Let’s dive deeper into DraftTeam:

Game Offerings

DraftTeam offers Salary Cap contests across the four major sports, but they are working on adding new, more innovative contest options. They have buy-ins ranging from Free all the way up to $540. Here’s a full breakdown of the different contest types DraftTeam has to offer:

Freeroll Contests – These contests are free to enter and any winnings will be paid with Entry Tickets or DraftTeam Dollars

GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool) Contests – GPPs are contests that payout the entire prize pool, regardless if the contest fills or not. These contests are labeled in orange text in the contest lobby.

Sit N’ Go Contests – Sit N’ Go contests will close automatically if they do not fill to capacity. Entry fees will automatically be refunded if contests are cancelled. These contests are labeled white text in the contest lobby.

Double Up Contests (50/50’s) – More places are paid, and the dollar amount is the same for all winners. The dollar amount is roughly double the entry fee.

Qualifier Contests – The winners will receive tickets to use in other paid contests (instead of having to pay entry fees later).

Winner Take All Contests – Pretty much speaks for itself.. the player in first place at the end of the contest will get the entire prize pool.

Multi-entry contests – One user may put multiple teams into the contest, thus increasing their chances of winning. Prize payouts are specific to each game and can be viewed on the specific contest page.

Software and Interface

The website is pretty easy to navigate, and they have plenty of features which make it appealing to the eyes. The lobby is well-laid out, and drafting a team is a simple process. Player salaries seem to update nicely with player performance, so you can’t just select a roster full of studs, which is a good thing for seasoned DFS veterans. During the action, you can keep track of your squad with live scoring! Players are able to narrow their game search using the content filter, and DraftTeam allows you to toggle columns in the lobby to rearrange the contest types/entry amounts. When selecting a team, you can click on any player to bring up that players bio, which contains game logs, player news and more! During the action, you can keep track of your squad with live scoring. While the interface isn’t a nice as some of the bigger competitors in the industry, it’s something that will improve as DraftTeam continues to grow. DT will continue to focus on customer growth, conversion to active membership and increasing revenues from management fees, as the daily and weekly contest participation escalates.

Roster, Rules and Scoring

For NFL, the roster setup is identical to Fanduel. Rosters consist of 9 players and must include players from at least 3 different NFL teams, and must not contain more than 4 players from the same team. The 9 roster positions are: QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE, K, and Defense(Team). For NBA, rosters consist of 9 players… 4 guards, 4 forwards and a center. The fact that there is no difference between a PG and a SG makes selecting a team less time consuming, and it also gives players more flexibility in creating a lineup. NHL lineups also consist of nine players: 2 LW’s, 2 RW’s, 2 C’s, 2 D’s and a goalie. Team stacking is not allowed at Draftteam (in any sport), and your rosters must contain players from three different NHL teams while not consisting of more than 5 players from any individual team.

See the Scoring Tab for Scoring Details

Roster Deadlines – Contests will close approximately five minutes before the start of the first game included in the contest. You can edit your roster as many times as you like but please note that a player becomes locked and may not be added or removed once that particular player’s game has begun.

Customer Service

DraftTeam strives to make each and every member of their community a happy customer. As with any new site, it’s still tough to tell exactly how strong the customer service is, but they seem to get back to you quickly, which is all you can ask. You can contact the DT team toll-free by phone(the phone number is listed in DraftTeam’s “contact us” tab), or you can contact them via email at service@draftteam.com. Players can also submit a more detailed support request directly from the website under the “contact us” tab.

Rake

The rake on DraftTeam can range from 10% to 15%, depending on the buy-in. For $2 and $5 contests, the rake sits at 15%, but drops down to 10% for contests at or over $10. This is a boon to the low stakes Grinders.

Cashier

DraftTeam accepts all major credit/debit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, and you can also deposit via Paypal. Withdrawing is a pretty easy process as well; the policy is to first refund any original deposit methods, then issue the remaining funds via PayPal or by check. This is to ensure the protection of user information and prevent fraudulent activity on DraftTeam.com. After DraftTeam has processed the users request for withdrawal, both credit card and PayPal accounts can take up to three business days to process. Minimum withdrawal amount is $25 and you are limited to 2 withdraw requests within a 7 day rolling period. If you wish to exceed this withdrawal limit, you will incur a $15 charge to your account. DT’s accounting department processes withdrawals Monday-Friday from 9 to 5. Once your withdrawal request is processed, it typically takes anywhere from 2-7 business days for your funds to appear in your account. If you request a check it can take up to a week to receive.

In closing, DraftTeam has a growing community and definitely has potential in the DFS industry. It seems like new sites are popping up more often now, but DraftTeam has solid financial backing and seems to have a good idea about what today’s fantasy players are looking for. I think the community will take a liking to the simplicity of the site layout and the gaming structure. While the site certainly has some flaws (they all do), it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Get on over to DraftTeam.com and check it out!
