Daily Joust $250 NBA Solo Survivor Tournament #1 – Day 3

Day 1 recap:

Seventeen Jousters qualified for Day 2 and a shot at taking home the $250 prize, $10k Super Joust II seat and 2 tickets to the NBA Finals.

Here is the list of survivors:

ticketrules
headChopper

chainsaul
JVW2406

frogger
stlcardinals84
grillzboy224
Crazy Horse
a25smith
LUCKYCHUCK

stevieFL

bowens1984

Top lineup of the night was 265 by ticketrules with a balanced lineup behind David Lee, Danny Granger, Tyreke Evans, Deron Williams and sleeper pick Lakers’ Andrew Goudelock, a $55k guy who delivered 17 points.

A lot of top Jousters missed surviving by just a single basket, including headChopper, Jesse, beermakersfan, therappa18, Vince, jbergey, and Boomshakalaka. Tough beat guys. More than one went down when Tyreke Evans missed his trey to tie at the buzzer to close out the night. Had that Kings-Warriors game gone into OT, we’d have a lot more survivors.

In fact, Tyreke Evans was the most popular pick yesterday, in 49 of the lineups, delivering 44 pts for his $132k salary, followed by Danny Granger in 41 lineups / 36 pts / $132k salary, Amare Stoudemire (35 LU, 24 pts, $135k), Anthony Morrow (35 LU, 32 pts, $91k), and Toney Douglas (35 LU, 8 pts, $66k).

Tyreke Evans was also the highest scoring player of the night. Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, and Anderson Varejao also delivered 40+ nights.

Bust of the night: Kobe 26 pts? Pau Gasol 21 pts? Josh Smith 17 pts?

There are 11 NBA games on Wednesday starting at 7PM ET with Bulls-Sixers and Wizards-Magic. Any Jouster who wins a regular solo in ANY sport in the 7 days preceding the start of the next SST will qualify for SST 2. SST 2 will start two nights after SST 1 crowns the first Solo Survivor winner.

quick question on this tournament- I won my $5 solo last night to advance, but missed out on my $22 by 1 point and lost my $11 solo also.
So tonight do I just enter the $5 sst solo or can I enter the $5,$11 and $22 again and be eligible to advance with a win from any of them teams?

You can play them all, Chop. Win once, survive to play three times again the next day.

so, I guess the strategy is to win in all, but vary your lineups w/ a few players, and put your most confident lineup in the $22, 2nd-most in the $11, and least confident of the three lineups in the $5?

  • on 1/2/12

I liked 2 lineups yesterday played my favorite in the 11$ and my other one in the 5$ and the OT in the Denver Memphis saved my 11$ team.

    Then there was 8….

Eight Jousters qualified for Day 3 and a shot at taking home the $250 prize, $10k Super Joust II seat and 2 tickets to the NBA Finals.

Here is the list of survivors:

    headChopper

Top lineup of the night was 269 by frogger with a lineup starring 100 pts from Brandon Jennings and Dwight Howard, and supported by Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries.

Bowens1984 missed surviving by a single basket, and 8 other Jousters went down in Day 2. Late scratch Anthony Morrow hurt the cause for some.

Pretty diverse lineups in last night, and most Jousters went with 2 entries, mixing it up. Joakim Noah and Ryan Anderson were the most popular picks, in 12 of the lineups, Joakim delivering just 12 pts for his $135k salary, Anderson coming through with 31 pts on a $109k salary. Danny Granger, Deron Williams and James Harden were other popular picks.

There were a lot of big performances by the NBA players last night, led by Blake Griffin ($176k) delivering 54 pts on the heals of that monster dunk, Chris Paul (52 pts, $178k), Brandon Jennings (51 pts, $143k), Lebron (50 pts, $211k), and Dwight Howard (49 pts, $190k)

Bust of the night: Easily Anthony Morrow (0 pts as a no show). Josh Howard (7pts, $55k), Joakim Noah (12pts, $135k) were runners up.

There is a reduced slate of 6 NBA games on Thursday starting at 7:30PM ET with Memphis-Atlanta. Any Jouster who wins a regular solo in ANY sport in the 7 days preceding the start of the next SST will qualify for SST 2. SST 2 will start two nights after SST 1 crowns the first Solo Survivor winner.

Seven Jousters qualified for Day 4 and a shot at taking home the $250 prize, $10k Super Joust II seat and 2 tickets to the NBA Finals.

Here is the list of survivors:

Top lineup of the night was 258 by chainsaul with a lineup starring 49 pts from Derrick Rose and 42 points from Monta Ellis, and supported by Carmelo and Gordon Hayward. He also had sleeper pick John Salmons (28 pts for $55k).

stevieFL missed surviving by a single basket as 7 of 8 survived to Day 4. Lots of top players sat out the 4th in the late games, both blowouts. Stacking in NBA … not so good.

Pretty diverse lineups in last night, and most Jousters went with all 3 entries, mixing it up. Monta Ellis and Gerald Wallace were the most popular picks, in half of the lineups, Monta delivering42 pts for his $130k salary, Wallace falling short of expectations with 14 pts on a $113k salary. Tony Parker, Kyle Korver and Greivis Vasquez were other popular picks.

There were a lot of big performances by the NBA players last night despite the six game slate, led by Amare Stoudemire ($131k) delivering 50 pts, Derrick Rose (49 pts, $179k), Stephen Curry (49 pts, $124k), Monta Ellis (42 pts, $130k), and LaMarcus Aldridge (42 pts, $158k). Ironically, Stoudemire, one of the most popular picks in recent days at a similar salary level, was chosen in only two lineups last night when he delivered the big five-oh.

Bust of the night: Joe Johnson (15 pts, $129k), Gerald Wallace or Josh Smith (17 pts, $141k).

There is a good slate of 10 NBA games on Friday starting at 7:00PM ET with Heat-Sixers, Cavs-Magic and Wizards-Raptors. Any Jouster who wins a regular solo in ANY sport in the 7 days preceding the start of the next SST will qualify for SST 2. SST 2 will start two nights after SST 1 crowns the first Solo Survivor winner.

    OMG, don’t jinx me.
This is the same as the announcer proclaiming “this guy steps to the line as a 99.9% free throw shooter in his career” and clank, right off the front rim

BTW, I hate my teams for tonight. I cannot put together a team i feel good about. I know 10 games offers alot of players, but I cannot field a team I feel good about tonight.

I love my boy HeadChopper, but Frogger and Cully are tough over on Joust. Personally I hope you all lose so we get a $500 tournament next go around.

DJoust is tough on NBA man. I am never 100% happy with a team on there. You can’t put together a lineup without one Kawhi Leonard, Isaiah Thomas, Chandler Parsons or the like that you’re ecstatic if you get 17 points from. That said, I do like today’s Daily Optimal lineup a lot…other than Chase Budinger and Matt Barnes. Too bad Jamaal Tinsley isn’t starting again tonight.

At this point in the evening, it looks like only Frogger’s $5 entry is a guaranteed 225. Can anyone else get over the hump?
