INTRODUCING All of RG’s New Features for NBA Season:

Hey all, sorry if we’ve been aloof from the Forums lately, but we’ve been busy on the back-end getting these new features, articles and tools up for NBA Season (and future sports)! Here’s a run-down of new tools to keep an eye out for while building your lineups tonight:

1) Improved NBA Projections

We’ve now improved our NBA Projections (w/ a big shout out to Riley). Now instead of large tables in the Grinders Incentives area, you’ll get a sortable table, updated at a fixed time, daily. But the better part is the new formula. Our NBA Projections now use 4 factors before calculating a players projections each day:

A) Opponent – Example: If D-Wade averages 30 PPG, and the Heat Average 100 and they face the Suns who give up 120 PPG, this component projects D-Wade to score 35 Points. Same for Marcus Camby w/ Rebounds vs. the Kings who are allowing ~47 RPG. And so on.
B) Recent Performance – Average F-Pts in the recent time period
C) Season Average – Season Average to reduce variance
D) Misc. Adjustments – Adjustments for the unforeseen and other necessary changes manually made by the RG NBA Crew: Injury, Substitution, etc.

The Projections have been performing very well with limited run so far, and will only improve as time goes on and we improve the formula and adjustment criteria. When the sample size gets bigger we hope to reveal some results on how well they’re doing.

2) Daily NBA Plays

Our users wanted more regular columns and picks for NBA season, so we delivered! Now you can expect a Daily, Members Only column with picks from RotoGrinders NBA writers DB730, Notorious and Cameron. Each day the column will contain 2-3 valuable picks at each position with prices. This will continue on for MLB Season and NFL Season as well (for NFL we’ll do a different position each day of the week).

3) Lineups Page

Cal posted this already, but the Lineups page is now up for NBA Season, and it will contain status tags for a player leading up to the game (i.e: Doubtful, Probable, Game-Time Decision, etc.). Not only that, but Grinders Incentives Members can conveniently access players’ daily projections right from the lineup page! (See Green #‘s in Image above)

Remember you can click on the (i) info icon box next to a players name for a quick view of that players game log and prices for each site. This page will continue for MLB Starting Lineups, and for NFL Season.

4) Improved Daily Research Console

The Daily Research Console you’ve grown to know at the top of our page has some new improvements:

A) Improved Daily Optimal Lineups – The Daily Optimal Lineups now use our improved projections and we’ve fixed all previous bugs with the tool (we think). We now have a way to adjust the lineup, even if a player is scratched the day of the event.

B) Top Values – Top Values now uses Projected Points for the day of, instead of a historic average. This is a better measurement to look at while setting your lineups. As always, the Top 10 are Free daily, and you can get the full list with access to Grinders Incentives

Grinders Incentives

Here’s a peak of the Grinders Incentives Area for NBA. If you’re a member of Incentives you get full access to all of the above + all our other site features + lots of $$$ in monthly freerolls per site. Click here for full details on Grinders Incentives.

Very nice. But your DS salaries are not accurate.

TM, we’re dependent on the feeds from our partner sites, didn’t know they were off today until just now. We’ll be working on getting to the bottom of it though. I think it’s just using salaries from a previous day this week, but I’m not sure. We’ll make a post again when we know more.

Impressive, the amount of content you guys put out on a daily basis is kinda insane

    Thanks Teblow! Much appreciated.

Regarding the issue with Salaries today, it looks like we had a server issue today while importing the salaries, so we were left with the salary #‘s from yesterday. This is not a chronic problem, and we should be fine moving forward. Until we do a server upgrade it may happen again. If it does, just make a post in the forums and let us know.

I think they did, and we tried to separate them more a little while ago, but maybe we didn’t do a good job with it! We’ll add it to the list and try and get it fixed by MLB Season.

How do I get access to the Grinders Incentives? I already have an account with Fanduel and it seems like you have to sign up through here to get access.
I like the way the research looks.

  • on 4/2/12

When I click on the Daily Research and then click Fanduel – Basketball – I only see the spreadsheet of players for a split second. What am I doing wrong? I would like to see the optimal lineups and projected scoring. Any suggestions?

Might want to try clearing your cache. I just checked it and it worked fine for me.

Unfortunately, you can only be a part of incentives for a site if you use our links to sign-up for that site, and then subsequently deposit to the site. That said we plan to offer ways to gain access to incentives for sites other than Joust, DraftStreet and FanDuel in the future and we may offer the potential to purchase a membership. Hope this clarifies and let us know if you have any other questions regarding Incentives.

Where’s the resident IE tester to catch this stuff? :-)

  • on 5/2/12

That sucks. I would be willing to pay for a membership if it is reasonable.
Please let me know if this is something that is a possibility.
Extra income for you guys; if someone is willing to pay for information that most get for free, I would think you would jump on it.

Yeah, I am good on Chrome, but IE at work (one version back, maybe IE 8, but I am a Luddite and need help to identify which version it is) does not get any other than FD and if I click to the others then back to FD then even that does not work.

Yes, I agree….$5-$10 per month seems reasonable for insider access for those sites we did not have the good fortune of signing up with via RG links.

    My thoughts exactly emac.

We’ve had quite a few requests for this. It’s in our plans to offer Incentives as a subscription product, but it sounds like we need to move that up the list.

would those incentives include redeposit bonuses or just sign up bonuses and extra analysis?
