MLB DFS Lineup Advice Today

Friday evening brings a 9-game main slate on both FanDuel and DraftKings, and even though we don’t have a game in Coors Field—or even any team with an implied run total above 5—we do have some of the top offenses in baseball on the slate. We also have some of the weakest, which is making some pitchers rise to the top. The pricing matches the upside potential in both hitting and pitching, however, so we’ll have to make some decisions. Let’s sort through the slate and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.

Top MLB DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Top Stacks

Overall Stack: Atlanta Braves
Implied Run Total: 4.75 (3rd)
Projected Total Ownership: 88% (FD) / 75% (DK)

Two of the top lineups in baseball meet up tonight in Los Angeles, with the Braves facing the Dodgers. The Dodgers are slight favorites in this matchup that has a healthy 9.5 total, giving Los Angeles the slightly higher implied run total, but I’ll side with the Braves as my top stack. I’ll always favor the road team if everything else is equal (and everything is almost equal here, from the implied run total, to the season-long statistics, to the average price per player, and the pOWN%). I mention it a lot, but guaranteed 9th-inning plate appearance can give a big boost to an offense. When I’m looking for a stack, I want one that will outscore every other team on the slate. If a team is outscoring every other team on the slate and they’re playing at home, by definition, they’re also outscoring the team they’re playing against, so they will only get 8 innings to hit with. On the road in that same situation, the lineup is often facing a shortstop on the mound, drawing walks and trying to hit 55-MPH slow pitches as far as they can.

Ronald Acuna is my top hitter here, and he just beats out Shohei Ohtani in the other dugout for my top hitter on the slate. Acuna is one of just three players in the league (and the only one on this slate) with double-digit stolen bases on the season. While he has only 1 HR, his exit velocities (per Statcast) have been creeping up. Coming off a 3-game series in the best pitchers park in baseball (Seattle), I’m confident Acuna and the rest of the Braves offense will look better tonight.
