MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, May 3

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Shohei Ohtani
squirrelpatrol: Ronald Acuna
boggslite: Juan Soto
ebeimfohr: Ronald Acuna
Alex Sonty: Ronald Acuna

Who is your favorite sneaky stack on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Royals – Any non-Braves or non-Dodgers stack can probably qualify as sneaky. I really like the way the Royals’ lineup sets up against Michael Lorenzen. Lorenzen is a low-strikeout pitcher to righties and has poor control to lefties. This gives clear HR upside to guys like Bobby Witt, Salvador Perez, and Nelson Velazquez, while the top lefty bats of MJ Melendez and Vinnie Pasquantino have a great mix of power and patience. I love being able to add in a cheap, power-upside bat like Michael Massey to round things out.

squirrelpatrol: Mariners – Seattle has been a disappointment this season, ranking just 26th in wOBA and runs scored. Any time they are on the road, they get a ballpark upgrade for their lineup, however, as well as guaranteed 9th-inning ABs. The entire stack is cheap, they are a pick’em in a game with a healthy 8.5 total, and they have both power (e.g., Cal Raleigh, Mitch Haniger) and speed (e.g., Julio Rodriguez, Dylan Moore).

boggslite: Athletics – Dating back to the start of last season, Ryan Weathers has the 2nd-worst SIERA among pitchers on tonight’s slate for a reason. He walks too many batters and gives up too many home runs, especially against righties, to whom he has managed only a 15% strikeout rate. Oakland is never a team we can rely on to score runs, but they are cheap and do have some righty power to make Weathers pay.

ebeimfohr: Guardians – I mentioned I like to go to stacks like Cleveland on slates like this. They are rarely a super-appealing stack because of their lack of power relative to the other elite offenses, but they will steal bases, and their park is sneaky good for lefty power.

Alex Sonty: Red Sox – Chris Paddack isn’t good anymore. Especially against lefties. He’s allowed a 28.8% fly-ball rate and 28.8% line-drive rate to them over 69 batters since the start of the 2023 season. Overall, he’s allowed 10 barrels over 106 batted balls without much K stuff (22.6%, overall, 17.4% to lefties). Rafael Devers and his 13.1% barrel rate with a 74% hard-hit rate on a 29% fly-ball rate against RHP since the start of the 2023 season are in a nut spot to potentially break the slate with the power/speed of fellow lefties Wilyer Abreu and Jarren Duran and occasional-enough power of Dominic Smith. Add the solid righty-righty power of Tyler O’Neill, Connor Wong, and the power/speed of Ceddanne Rafaela to the mix, and we can play everyone in stacks at half the pOWN% of the Braves and Cardinals.
