CBB DFS Slate Breakdown: Tuesday, January 11th

DraftKings has finally decided that it’s college basketball season as we have a few large contests on the slate here. I am hoping we can all get to filling these as it will (hopefully) cause them to continue to post larger contests.

In terms of strategy and multi-entry, this should be an extremely interesting slate. At first glance, there are a good number of 5k and lower guys who are worth playing, but the higher dollar studs are all somewhat questionable values. This, in theory, should allow for some nice distribution in ownership and some decisions to make. Without any further ado, let’s get into the slate.

Kentucky (74)

The ‘Cats come in as the 10th ranked team in KenPom, so even though their early season antics have caused people to be a bit down on them, they are still a national title contender with this team. Oscar Tshiebwe ($9,500) has come down a few hundred from earlier in the season and is really the only playable fantasy guy here. His rebounding rate is the highest I’ve ever seen following CBB – 22% offensive rebounding and 36% defensive rebounding. Both numbers on their own which dwarf a normal rebounding rate. This gives him a nice floor as long as he’s getting minutes, but the fact that Calipari is .4% of minutes in 2-foul participation still makes Tshiebwe a risk considering he’s a little higher of a foul risk than his 3.5 FC/40 that he has showed this year. I think Tshiebwe is actually playing a bit more lax on the defensive end because he knows how much he means to this team.
