Golfers I Am Overweight On
Justin Thomas – If you get the first pick on DRAFT this week, take him. Justin Thomas is absolutely LOCKED in right now. He currently leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained from tee to green and strokes gained on approach for the 2018-2019 season. He has finished 3rd and 2nd in his last two starts, and he has been throwing darts with reckless abandon. The putter went cold Sunday at Riviera, or else he would have had a victory. Expect another great week in Mexico, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that he has placed inside the top five in each of the first two editions of this event at Chapultepec.
Rory McIlroy – He has always been undervalued a bit in DRAFT’s projection model, but it surprises me that he still lags behind 15-18 other golfers on a weekly basis. He rebounded after a poor first round to surge into a top five last week at Riviera, and the talent level is unquestioned. He finished seventh here two years ago and has a strong history at this event even before it was played at Chapulepec. If he slips into the middle to late second round, he’s a great buy.
