WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16
We have a split-slate Wednesday with six day games nine games on the main evening slate. I’m going to focus on the main slate, but will take a look into the early slate for starters. DraftKings has all six games together for a decent sized early slate, and I’m going to be talking about these games from that perspective. FanDuel has split it up into two different smaller three-game slates, which I am not a fan of.
Nelson finally had a bad start in his last start, but he’s been so great for so long, I’m willing to give him a pass on a game that fell apart in one bad inning with some awful fielding mistakes making matters look worse than actually were. Even with the bad start added in, Nelson has a 29.1% strikeout rate with 6.6% walks and a 52.6% ground ball rate in 36 innings since the All-Star Break. For the season his 3.39 SIERA is by far the lowest of any pitcher on this early slate.
