This weekend we head to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Bennett Transportation & Logistics 250. The race is Saturday at 5:00pm ET on The CW. There is no practice this week, but qualifying for trucks and NOAPS is Friday. In case you didn’t know, Atlanta Motor Speedway was changed after the final 2021 race. It went from a track with a lot of tire wear and medium banking to a new surface with a lot of banking. It’s an intermediate track that races like Daytona and Talladega. The biggest difference is that those tracks are 2.5 miles with a lot more room, whereas Atlanta is 1.5 miles with two to three lanes to run. The wrecks happen fast but don’t seem to take out as many cars as the Daytona and Talladega races. We will see a lot more single-file racing at Atlanta, and the middle lane is the dominant lane. The NOAPS runs have not been as strong as the Cup runs in the draft here. As the track continues to age, tire wear will play a larger factor in these races.
