Safeway Open

PGA DFS is back! After a whole break of ONE WEEK that felt like an eternity, we start the fall season with an event in California before the PGA Tour heads to Asia for a few weeks. After a few wacky playoff events and an embarrassing Ryder Cup loss for the United States squad, it’s nice to have a full field event back for us to break down.

The Safeway Open will be contested at Silverado Country Club, a par 72 course that is of very moderate length. By today’s PGA Tour standards, it’s a short course. The bombers will be able to feast on the four par fives, but a lot of them are reachable for any of the golfers in this field if they are hitting from the fairway. Outside of the par fives, this is generally a ball striking paradise. Look to the good approach players in an attempt to find trends for this event. Also, it’s the first time we have seen poa annua greens in a while, so don’t be surprised to see some fresh names populating the leaderboards. That’s especially true since we have 50 new players with PGA Tour cards for the 2018-2019 season, starting with this event. These next few months are some of the best times to get an edge in PGA DFS, so let’s break this event down through the lens of some GPP plays!
