20/20 Vision - January 15, 2020
So last night was a bizarre night of NBA DFS. Lately, it seems you have to be spot on with your line ups just to hit cash games. I missed on three and four pieces of my line up last night and still cashed in all of my double ups and a triple up! It just means everybody must of been missing with me! Just to give you an idea of how bad I missed and still cashed here are four players in my only cash line up on Fanduel that ended up cashing and their value they made. Doncic 2.9x, Okobo 2.3x, Oubre 2.7x, Tucker 3.0x, and Spellman 3.1x! I missed on five players and still cashed with just above a 270. Just a weird night across the league. As for my finding five and how they rounded out:
Garland – he ended up at 5.8x value with 29 points
McLemore – 5.3x with just over 21 fantasy points
Tucker – Already talked about him above only paving out three times value with 12.9 points
Jackson – 4.5x value, but I don’t feel like it was terrible play as his value was a lot better than some that ended up in my lineup and others’ obviously. Also, if you watched the Memphis vs Houston game you would of seen how well he truly played. It just didn’t end up in the box score!
Thompson – Just not good, not good at all! Only hit one and a half times value with only 9.6 points! I rarely play Thompson and he reminded me why. Terrible call on my part.
Obviously, some of these plays didn’t end up in my line up as I make these calls around noon of the NBA slate, and it is well before injury news.
As for today, lets look at some PGA
Finding Five – PGA – January 15, 2020
So I will tell you right now I do not watch golf, I do not know a ton about golf, and I only follow it for DFS purposes and only for the last few events. So what I did to come up with my plays I am suggesting is I came up with 7 categories that I felt were important for this week through reading articles of the pros in regards to PGA DFS. I ranked them off of my research, found the the top 50 in each category, and then came up with the top players that hit in multiple categories.
The categories I used this week:
1) Strokes Gained Approach
2) Birdies or Better Scoring
3) Short Par 5 Scoring
4) Strokes Gained Putting
5) Strokes Gained Off Tee
6) Medium Par 4 Scoring
7) Short Par 4 Scoring
Now I will often look at course history, but this is a tournament played at three different course’s and then finishes the last round at the TPC Stadium Course. Never dealt with a tournament like this so I am kind of interested to find out. They will also not cut until after the third round here. So who are the five plays that rated out the best through my search? Lets take a look!
Sungjae Im – He was the only golfer to make the top 50 in all 7 categories. He will be highly owned with the third best odds to win I believe. He scored well until round 4 last week. He will be my high priced player I look to target here!
Lucas Glover – Scored in 6 of the 7 categories for the top 50. Ranked 6th best in how I weighted my categories, is priced at only $8,200, and I am hoping he comes in below 10% owned!
Vaughn Taylor – Taylor rated out #1 despite only scoring in the top 50 for six of the seven categories. Priced at $7,900 he will be somewhat highly owned and could go as high as 15% I believe.
Now lets talk about two cheaper plays here
Carlos Ortiz – Scored in 6 of the 7 categories and is priced at $7,200. He shot even last week, is a good driver, and good approach player. Where he needs to do well is with his putting this week. My hope is that with it being a pro am maybe the greens will be a little bit easier and he can steal some more birdies which he rates out well at!
Bronson Burgoon – This a complete punt play and one with super low ownership possibly at 1% The big thing for him will be to do well on the short par five holes were he is almost the worst in the tournament. This is where people will pick up eagles, but he is decent on par 4’s and a very good putter. I am hoping he gets on the green early as he is about average in greens in regulation and then buries putts for birdies. He is my shot in the dark play! He scored in 5 of the 7 categories.
Good luck to all this weekend in PGA!
