3.3 Ways to Survive The NBA Playoffs Apocalypse

I Am Leaving You Basketball

I loved reading the First Look and The Grind Down. I loved seeing my bank roll grow everyday as the season went on. Using the late swap feature or catching a last minute changed before game lock was awesome. You blessed my pockets with positive cash flow.

I was able to buy some nice things, take a couple of trips, and piss my boss off because he had to wait until I put my line-ups in. Kobe’s last game along with The Golden State Warriors drive for 73 wins was the perfect ending. But then you turned your back on me when the playoffs started. My bank roll curses you with every entry.

The Pending Apocalypse

I am letting you die NBA DFS. Your pending NBA Playoffs Apocalypse will not ruin me. I have three new loves (PGA, Nascar, and MLB) and you will not seduce me into your web of deceit. Keep your two and three game slates. I will not fall for your $50k to 1st and promises of an entry to the super duper tourney. MLB has my heart, PGA is my side piece, and Nascar is the hot neighbor down the street.

RIP NBA Playoffs and rot in DFS Hell. Adios Amigos Mother…(It’s a popular drink in California). You will no longer take hostage of my time. Okay, I will still play the Sharp Shooter and NBA Swat + Shot. But that is it! One entry each! There is a lot of money there. But your cash games suck and MLB is getting that alimony now.

If you are still trying to milk that cow called NBA Playoffs. If you are getting drunk off the fine wine of Basketball Babylon. Then here are 3.3 ways to Survive the NBA Playoffs Apocalypse.

3.3 Ways to Survive

1. Start Making Your Transition to MLB – Jonathon Bales said, “Football for Show and Baseball for the DOUGH!” You know it’s not mandatory to play NBA DFS. There are no obligations. There is no gun to your head. Aren’t you frustrated with the Playoffs? Is it less than you expected? I know I am disappointed too. It happens to new DFS players. The Sports Gods aren’t going to punish you for leaving basketball. It’s okay. Shift your money over to MLB.

2. Say No to Cash Games and Yes to Tournaments – With the game slates so small why risk having sub-optimal line-ups. Small variations really will not matter in cash games and there will be a lot of over lapping teams. Put your money in tournaments where you can really have an advantage with small variations.

3. Put on Your Contrarian Hat – This is where you can try that 3 PG or 3 SG attack. How about those bench players that have a high usage rate. Try anti-fragile situations. In fact try every contrarian strategy you can think of.

3.1 Try Team Stacking – It’s the Playoffs and Popovich might play his starters now. Stack 3 or 4 players from the same team. The James, Irving, and Love stack has always delivered for me in the playoffs. Trying stacking two teams from different games. If one team goes off it could give you that advantage.

3.2 Build Your Team Using Optimizers – Pick your core players and throw them into an Optimizer. See what different combinations you get. I use optimizers everyday. It allows me to see players I wouldn’t have thought of. Spit out 10, 20, or 30 combinations to see if you can have a unique line-up.

3.3 Hit The Road Jack – I know you don’t want to leave the party early. You are afraid you are going to miss something. You could slip out the backdoor and no one will notice. Trust me NBA will be back in October (Unless there is a strike or a real Apocalypse). Be strategic with the second round of the playoffs. Pick your spots with the NBA Playoff’s Apocalypse and see if you can win some big $$$. See you in MLB.

IMO A good time to move on from NBA dfs is after the 1st round of the playoffs.

I actually did better in last two playoff rounds than during most regular season weeks. I think due to no late scratches, few blowouts that impacted starter production and seemingly the entire world’s refusal to play Roberson and Bogut. There was a lot of point-chasing with Frye too. I won with Mozgov 1 night while everyone wrung their hands over Izelli, Speights, Varazeo, et al.

I’m just happy to see NBA back, as NFL has been rather cruel thus far. I made more money and was infinitely more consistent in winning in Sat’s 2-gm NBA opener than in an entire month of football.
