CarlitosWay's Tiers to Remember - NBA picks 1/11
This series of blogs will highlight my top 3 picks in each positional category categorized through the following options: stud (>8K), mid-tier (5K-8K), sleeper (<5K). Finding spots where you can take advantage of (whether price, role, injury news, etc.) is key to your success.
All the last minute injury news lately has been throwing off everything you state in the morning. This was a slate to forget but at least I bounced back in the night slate. This was an average performance, but where I screwed myself over was in the value picks I made. I had some quality ones in the chart but somehow I switched my ideas and went Chiozza accompanied by TLC – that’s where the dagger came. The rest of my lineup was pretty on par but those two under performing plays dealt the blow. The weekend was pretty good, health protocols in the news thing – you must stay updated even through lock.

January 11 Picks
Very early on so expect things to change. More value may be on the way with all these COVID health protocols taking over. Stud-wise, you have the red-hot Doncic on a depleted Mavs side, Beal with no Westbrook and Bryant, and Embiid with basically no one but him. These are the three guys I am focusing on tonight. The mid-range looks neat with a lot of plays coming from the Atlanta side. With Gallinari and Bogdanovic out, someone will need to lead that second unit. Even starters will get more minutes and shot attempts. Reddish, Huerter, and Hunter can easily all reach value. LaMelo is on a tear; I told myself his price kept being too high for a bench player but now I am at the point of giving in even at this high price – it is probably the day where he under performs but how many more times can I go on doubting him as his price continues to increase yet he smashes every time. And if I was the Raptors coach, I would just give Boucher the start already! Load him up if he does.
Value is super today. Do you want to go the Mavs route, or the Wizards route, or the 76ers route? Perhaps more team will join that long list. Special mention to C. Johnson who has been lights out off the bench – a great GPP play over the obvious value plays.
