Contrarian Corner August 12th
Welcome to the Contrarian Corner. This blog will be about doing things a little differently than what most of the Rotogrinders team recommends. Anyone can look at team totals and decide to stack the team with the highest total. What I attempt to do is stack teams that will be low owned and are in great spots, despite what the Vegas team total might be. This strategy has a high level of variance. I am not aiming to cash for the minimum, I am trying to win GPP’s.
I am here for the weird slates and we have one tonight. Besides Coors we have several teams with massive run totals. Normally, we would be avoiding all those teams due to them being chalky. Tonight however, may be different. Houston has some weather concerns and may be canceled early today. Scratch the red hot Astros off the list. The Yankees play the second game of a double-header and right now have no team total. Taking those teams and both Coors participants out leaves us with some interesting contrarian plays.
Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto has a team total that is getting close to six runs. Bo Bichette keeps hitting extra-base hits every single game. Ariel Jurado is not very good and this seems to line up for a nice Blue Jays bounce back spot after being shut out yesterday. I am calling a Jays break out!
Los Angeles Angels
Have you been paying attention to what is happening with the Pirates? They are 4-24 since the All-Star break. 4-24! 4-24! The bullpen blew a four run lead yesterday and gave up double-digit runs to the Cardinals who can’t score. Mitch Keller is supposed to be the next great Pirate pitcher to do well and then excel after leaving in a few years. Even if he goes five innings that means the Pirates bullpen is still involved in this game a ton. Honestly, the easiest way to make money this second part of the baseball season is to just bet against the Pirates. They are my team, but I keep doing it and it’s working.
This is my plan as this morning. I’m Milo741 on all the DFS sites. Follow along on twitter @wintheweekend, as I will post my bets as well. Good luck everyone!
