Contrarian Corner August 14th
Welcome to the Contrarian Corner. This blog will be about doing things a little differently than what most of the Rotogrinders team recommends. Anyone can look at team totals and decide to stack the team with the highest total. What I attempt to do is stack teams that will be low owned and are in great spots, despite what the Vegas team total might be. This strategy has a high level of variance. I am not aiming to cash for the minimum, I am trying to win GPP’s.
Hopefully, you were following me on Twitter last night as I pivoted my Cards lineup into an Arizona stack. Once the pitching change occurred in Colorado, it made more sense to switch up. It worked out for me, but no scores of any consequence.
Today’s slate is split and the early slate is pretty juicy with Houston, New York and Coors all in play. From what I have gathered it seems like most people are recommending or touting paying up for one pitcher and down for another and then stacking a mid-high end stack. That strategy almost eliminates Houston and Arizona due to price. The fact that we are getting closer to lock and Arizona has not put out a lineup will also lower their ownership. I can’t believe this may happen, but Coors may be lower owned.
I may make only one lineup early and it will be an Arizona stack. I hope they don’t reveal their lineup until after lock time. I am trying to pick players who do not lock early in hopes that I can maneuver and then stack Arizona at lower ownership. I am guessing that the Yankees end up being the early chalk with people paying up for one pitcher, or using Wade Miley. I am hopefully going to be unique in my roster construction.
I will update and add to this blog later when I find out what the chalk looks like in the late slate. In the mean time, good luck everyone!
Kevin Roth says winds are blowing out here and Edwin Jackson is awful. Seattle scores a ton last night and get another chance to do so against an even worse pitcher. Everyone seems to be in love with the Dodgers tonight, so to be different on a small slate, pay up for pitching and stack Seattle!
This is my plan as this morning. I’m Milo741 on all the DFS sites. Follow along on twitter @wintheweekend, as I will post my bets as well. Good luck everyone!
