Contrarian Corner August 2nd
Welcome to the Contrarian Corner. This blog will be about doing things a little differently than what most of the Rotogrinders team recommends. Anyone can look at team totals and decide to stack the team with the highest total. What I attempt to do is stack teams that will be low owned and are in great spots, despite what the Vegas team total might be. This strategy has a high level of variance. I am not aiming to cash for the minimum, I am trying to win GPP’s.
Contrarian Corner was named best new blog for the month of July and I want to thank everyone who is reading and voting or deciding on these topics. I enjoy writing this just as much as I enjoy playing DFS. I love the game and the theory that we can use to gain an edge on the field. I love it when people reach out and say that any of my words helped them have a great night.
Last night I gave out Toronto and Tampa Bay, both of which smashed and did fantastically. Unfortunately, I did not do well picking pitchers and thus did not have a winning night.
Tonight we have Coors back in our lives and that means that being contrarian can have added value tonight. Besides Coors, Houston, Minnesota, and Texas all have team totals north of six. That makes five teams that are expected by Vegas to score six plus runs. I can’t recall having that many options on a full slate. One of those teams above is going to be under owned for sure.
With all those massive team totals we have a few contrarian options to gain a massive amount of leverage on the field. Don’t get me wrong; I am also going to make a Coors stack too.
Facing Ivan Nova and they have a team total of almost six and yet, they will be contrarian. This feels insane to me. J. T. Realmuto is on fire with hits in six straight games. I also want to mention his price went down. He’s only 4.1K on Draft Kings tonight. I will be stacking the Phillies for sure tonight.
Toronto Blue Jays
Aaron Brooks is starting for Baltimore and he has not scored double-digit Draft Kings points since June 8th. Bo Bichette has finally been priced up some, but he is still too cheap in this matchup. Just look at his game log and then think about him hitting lead off against Aaron Brooks. There is no better feeling in DFS starting the night scoring points right after lock.
This is my plan as this morning. I’m Milo741 on all the DFS sites. Follow along on twitter @wintheweekend, as I will post my bets as well. Good luck everyone!
