Contrarian Corner August 30th

Welcome to the Contrarian Corner. This blog will be about doing things a little differently than what most of the Rotogrinders team recommends. Anyone can look at team totals and decide to stack the team with the highest total. What I attempt to do is stack teams that will be low owned and are in great spots, despite what the Vegas team total might be. This strategy has a high level of variance. I am not aiming to cash for the minimum, I am trying to win GPP’s.

I cashed in everything again last night and won another Milly Maker ticket. The elusive Wild Cat ticket appears to always just be out of my reach. Despite Derek Rodriguez’s ONE POINT, I was more than fine. My Pirates stack did very well as Kevin Newman carried me to the money and another ticket. At this point, the Rockies pitching staff is so depleted and the bullpen is so over-worked that I am stacking against them every single night. Yes, I realize this is supposed to be the contrarian corner, but the pitchers I am selecting are very contrarian. I honestly, don’t even care how highly owned the Pirates or Rockies will be tonight. My roster construction with my pitching options will be plenty contrarian. I mean the Pirates were chalky last night, but Newman was 10% owned I most contests I was in.

John Means
At $6,100 he is a little more expensive than the pitchers I have been playing! Means has some strikeout upside, but most of all the price is right. As with most of my cheap pitching options, I just want these guys to get to 15 Draft Kings points to allow me to stack all the Coors bats.

Elieser Hernandez
Hernandez is going to give up some home runs he does every start. We just have to hope they are solo shots and he brings his strikeouts tonight. Hernandez could easily strike out seven batters and get us to that magical 15 Draft Kings points number I am aiming for. I realize the matchup against the Nationals is not exactly wonderful, but options are limited to stack up Coors tonight.

Eric Skoglund
I wish he would strike people out a little more, but he is cheap. I kind of want to list Max Fried in this spot, but he is excessively obvious of a name tonight. Again, this is the contrarian corner and Fried should be the chalky SP2 on Draft Kings. If I can get to Fried I would be excited, but moving up to his price point really limits my ability to double stack Coors. That brings in Skoglund who gets a date with the Orioles tonight. I hope that I find the right combo to pick along with my Coors double stack and we can cash and win more tickets tonight.

This is my plan as of right now. If things change during the day I will be back to update this blog. I am Milo741 on all the DFS sites. Follow along on twitter @wintheweekend, as I will post my bets as well. Good luck everyone.
