Contrarian Corner August 5th
Welcome to the Contrarian Corner. This blog will be about doing things a little differently than what most of the Rotogrinders team recommends. Anyone can look at team totals and decide to stack the team with the highest total. What I attempt to do is stack teams that will be low owned and are in great spots, despite what the Vegas team total might be. This strategy has a high level of variance. I am not aiming to cash for the minimum, I am trying to win GPP’s.
Yesterday was a huge bust. It takes skill to stack a game and then have the two teams combined for three runs. Some days are better than others. I swear I do worse on Sunday as I am always doing family things.
In the main slate tonight the Yankees and Red Sox will be the chalk. I think they are the chalk more than anyone else for obvious reasons. I don’t blame you if you want to stack bother or either option. In terms of contrarian plays I have three teams on my radar. This is also a great contrarian slate as all teams are kind of bunched together after Boston and New York.
Tampa Bay Rays
I swear I am not a secret Rays fan. This team just scores runs, every day. Jacob Waguespack doesn’t strike people out at all and the Rays are hot. Even the people they traded for have all hit home runs already. Give me more Ji-Man Choi and all the lefties. Actually, stack them any and all ways, they will get there, they always seem to.
If you love a cheap stack with a high run total, I’ve got the team for you. (Stefon from SNL voice) If you don’t get the reference just fire up YouTube. The Reds are cheap to stack and allow you more expensive one-offs or pitching. Really you can do whatever you want with them. The team total is closing in on six at the time of writing so they may end up being a trendy stack.
Los Angeles Dodgers
While I really want to go back to the Royals, I’ll go with the red hot Dodgers. Late games garner less ownership and this is a great spot. Late night hammer for the win.
This is my plan as this morning. I’m Milo741 on all the DFS sites. Follow along on twitter @wintheweekend, as I will post my bets as well. Good luck everyone.
