Contrarian Corner July 12th
Welcome to the Contrarian Corner. This blog will be about doing things a little differently than what most of the Rotogrinders team recommends. Anyone can look at team totals and decide to stack the team with the highest total. What I attempt to do is stack teams that will be low owned and are in great spots, despite what the Vegas team total might be. This strategy has a high level of variance. I am not aiming to cash for the minimum, I am trying to win GPP’s.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for DFS to be back. What else was there to watch? I did binge Stranger Things. I did watch NBA Summer League and of course I watched some tennis for the first time in forever. (Subtle Frozen reference for you parents out there.) But finally, DFS baseball is back. (Extreme The Rock Voice.) Enough pop culture let’s get back to the games.
Obviously, we have Coors on this slate and thus Colorado and Cincinnati are going to be chalky. The Yankees are also going to be pretty popular so I will be staying away from them. There are some contrarian stacks I am interested in.
1. Miami – If you want to pay up at pitching, or play a mini Coors stack, I would include some Marlins. Jason Vargas has been terrible for the Mets and I will happily play some Marlins to make it all work.
2. Toronto – Find the game with the high total and take the dog is a viable strategy. I have yet to see if Domingo German will be on a pitch limit, but I can’t imagine him coming off injury and going 100+ pitches in this soon.
3. Oakland – Late game hammer time! Matt Olson has been the flame Emoji mixed with the walking man on fire Gif. No, one will be playing the A’s tonight. If you want to keep hope alive and stay up late, this is the stack for you.
4. Milwaukee – Brewers are back home and Christian Yelich is healthy again after that slight back strain. Shaun Anderson has scored over 14 Draft Kings four times this season in ten starts. That is not what you want when you leave a pitcher friendly park and head to Milwaukee.
That’s all for today. I am going to finish my lineups and get ready for the return of baseball. I’m Milo741 on all the DFS sites. This early in the day, this is my current plan. Follow along on twitter @wintheweekend as I will post my bets as well. Good luck everyone!
