Contrarian GPP Plays
I took a bit of a hiatus after a cold streak hit me for about a week. I scaled back my action during that period but we are back on track the last few days. I have ignored over/under game totals the last few days and just played guys with good matchups. It has worked out thus far I am sticking with the same game plan until it goes south. A monster 12 game slate today is being offered.
A number of good plays at PG today. I like George Hill in the mid price range but there is always the injury concern with him. He is putting up around 35 fantasy points the last week. The Pelicans also give up 46 fantasy points to PG’s which is the 4th highest in the league. You know a guy like Steph Curry will be highly owned. To fade the obvious, I offer Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker, and Mike Conley. The Grizzlies should put up plenty of points vs BKN tonight just beware of a potential blowout where starters ride the bench early in the 4th. I always seem to struggle on who to play between Lillard and McCollum so run a few lineups with both on your rosters.
The value play I like at PG tonight is Ty Lawson who gets a revenge game vs the Nuggets. The last 3 games Ty is getting 30 MPG and has scored at least 26 fantasy points per game.
I am fading the Beard tonight vs SA and instead am all aboard Giannis. Giannis gets a much easier match up vs PHI. PHI allows about 39 fantasy points to SF on the season. Anything less than 50 fantasy points from Giannis is a disappointment. I see SG is a bit weak today but do not forget about Tim Hardaway Jr. He is back on track shooting wise and gets to play in an uptempo game vs GS tonight. As long as he is going to continue seeing 30+ MPG, 30 fantasy points should be a lock. In terms of value plays, I like Tony Allen. Usually he can pick up a few steals with rebounds and assists while putting up around 10 PPG.
The top SF’s I like tonight if you do not want to pay up for Lebron are Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Gordon Hayward, and Carmelo Anthony. In Kawhi’s last 3 games, he has put up at least 50 fantasy points. I know this game will feature a high over/under total as well. I would think Kawhi is a popular play but Paul George is a fine pivot. The only concern for George is that he should square off again MKG who prides himself on his defense. Terrence Ross and Jaylen Brown should be 2 of the more popular value plays. Brown is a fine play as long as Avery Bradley continues to see a cap on his minutes.
Aaron Gordon is a much better player playing PF than SF. His last 2 games he scored at least 32 fantasy points. Continue to fade his teammate Evan Fournier and play Gordon instead. If Vuc is out again tonight, that means more shots for guys like Gordon and Ross to take. Nikola Jokic should be the chalk play at PF and rightfully so. I would take a look at Blake Griffin and Millsap if you decided to run some lineups minus Jokic. The Celtics/Clippers game should have plenty of points scored and I see Blake putting up around 45 fantasy points. WCS, Richaun Holmes, and Bjelica are fine value plays.
I usually pay 6k or less for my Centers. Today will be no different with fine plays in Cody Zeller, Jusuf Nurkic, and Hernangomez. Greg Monroe should also have a good game against a shorthanded front court in PHI. If you decide to pay up for Center, KAT and Drummond top my list. Drummond has struggled vs CHI this year which is in part because of Robin Lopez. However, last year Drummond averaged 19 pts 17 rebounds 2 steals 2 assts and 1 blk vs CHI.
Value Plays: Malcolm Brogdon, Ish Smith, Rodney Hood, Nik Stauskas, Thabo Sefolosha, and Cristiano Felicio
Rodney Hood exploded for 35 fantasy points last night. Stauskas is all over the place but his shot was falling in his last game. I love Thabo as he is a James Johnson player at half the salary. He should get 30+ MPG against GS and should face off against Steph or Klay. Felicio has been good for around 15 fantasy points and is min priced on most sites.
