Contrarian GPP Plays

It is the time of the NBA season where the cash games get much harder. The GPP/50/50 cash lines are fairly close as well. I have scaled back my action a ton and have even cut my play on some sites until MLB starts up in 3 weeks. The fish have gone broke leaving the die hards and sharks swapping rake. These fish will claim that MLB is their best sport and after a few months when that turns south they will tell you in rotogrinders chat that NFL is actually their best sport where they paid for their wifes new shoes in past years. Yea, I highly doubt that. The same way my $20,000 in “winnings” on Fanduel have allowed me to afford a new Diablo Lambo. I think its a good time to enter more GPP’s than H2H’s and 50/50’s. I am trying not to play more than $10 on 1 site and only play slates with more than 6 games. Far much too much overlap on Thursday’s NBA slate with 5 games as I saw a player owned by 70% of teams in Devin Booker. There is no $ money to be made in these games for such small slates. You are banking on maybe 2-3 players on your roster that are not owned over 20%.

I will continue to avoid Steph Curry as long as he is priced over 10K. GS looks pretty bad by their standards after the KD injury. No, Matt Barnes/”(player-popup)Patrick McCaw”:/players/patrick-mccaw-35222 are not the answer. John Wall, Isaiah Thomas and Kemba top my high priced PG plays. I will probably have more Kemba shares of those 3. ORL struggles to cover PG’s as they give up the 6th most points at 48 fantasy points. I do not see many value plays right now but that will probably change as injury news come out closer to lineup lock. Jamal Murray, Joseph, and Rondo are the trio that I would consider.

I do not have to cover Harden or Giannis here. You already know about those guys. I offer Brad Beal, Tyreke Evans, and Tim Hardaway as salary relief options. As mentioned before, I do not care for Beal for fantasy. Sure, he should score around 30 points but he offers very little in the other cats like rebounds, assts, steals, etc. Unless, you play on Draftkings where they offer you 3 pters made bonuses. Tyreke went off for 36 fantasy points against the Spurs in his last game. I would like him more if he was not on a 28-30 MPG cap limit. Pay attention to Avery Bradley. He played 30 minutes in his last game and put up 24 fantasy points. With a game against DEN tonight, those 30 MPG should get him around the 30 fantasy point more. I should not have to tell you to target this BOS/DEN game along with the HOU/CHI. Half of your starting rosters should come from these 2 games.

Nothing wows me at SF today other than Paul George at 7900 being way too low. Playing against Giannis and company who like to score points should allow George to flirt with 45 fantasy points. Jae Crowder, Iguodala, and Terrence Ross are fine value plays. I have no idea why Fanduel is keeping Terrence Ross price at 4500. It seems to have stayed at the price point for a week now. He is always 30+% owned in GPP’s as well. Digging deeper, Bojan Bogdanovic needs to get some respect. When the Wiz go small, he is playing over guys like Gortat and at times Markieff. A weak defense against the Kings, should let Bojan hit at least 24 fantasy points.

I will ride with Dirk tonight as they face the Brooklyn Nets. Only concern is the BKN gets blown out and with Brook Lopez being ruled out that does not help them. Aaron Gordon should also be a popular play. The more I look at PF the worse it looks. There should be plenty of overlap for PF’s. Trevor Booker and Skal should be on your radar. Skal is getting jerked around by Dave Joerger but when he even gets 15 MPG he produces. Why SAC is starting retreads like Tolliver and Koufos over Skal and WCS, I will not understand. If SAC truly thinks they have a shot at the 8th spot they are dreaming over there. Its time to let the young guys loose.

A number of good Center plays in the 6k range which includes Al Horford, Nerlens Noel, and Myles Turner. Big Al is being under utilized in Beantown which is truly a shame after he is one of the main guys in ATL. He should be averaging 15-17 PPG. While I enjoy watching Isaiah Thomas, I feel he plays too much hero ball especially in crunch time. This team will not make it far in the playoffs if this continues. It does not sound like Jokic will play either and Mason Plumlee will be in most of my lineups as he should give you a line like 10 pts 10 rebounds with 4 assts and at least 1 blk. In short, Center is very deep today. I see at least 8-10 good plays here.

Value Plays: Joffrey Lauvergne, Dellavedova, Sean Kilpatrick, CJ Miles, Ian Mahinmi

I doubt many people noticed but Mirotic was riding pine last game for Joffrey. Its about time as Mirotic’s time should come to an end after the season. How he goes from best Euro player when he came to the NBA to losing PT to guys like Zipser amazes me. Niko should have been traded over McDermott but that opens up another can of worms in regards to the inept Bulls front office and head coach in Fred Hoiberg. I would be amazed if the trio of Gar, Paxson, and Hoiberg are still around next season. Kilpatrick has been scoring 20+ points and it seems Atkinson is finally letting him loose. I think tonight should be no different against DAL. Ian has been putting up around 15 fantasy points.

Thanks for your reply. Stating the obvious like most vets around here already know. If the fish have swam upstream, there should be none reading this

Lol, you appear awfully sensitive if you take anything that was stated as personal. Lets keep the comments on topic, thanks
