Daily Fantasy Golf: BMW Championship Picks & Projections

As always, thank you for reading the picks. Let’s take a look back on the picks from last week. Since the PGA had a week off, it was technically two weeks ago at the Deutsche Bank Championship. The picks all turned out fairly well, but were overshadowed by one big mistake: Rickie Fowler missed the cut. He really hurt the teams chances to cash in GPP’s, but it was still good enough to cash in double-ups. Hopefully this week we can get back to the winning ways.

This week is going to be interesting. There are now only 70 golfers left in the FedEx Cup and there will be no cut this week. That definitely changes the strategy up quite a bit. Since there is no cut, you can’t really play it safe by finding cheap guys that will make the cut. This week is all about the top 10 finish. For me, that means taking a few more risks than usual. Before we get into the picks, here are the projections:

As you can see from the projections, there is some great value to be had with guys like Harris English and Boo Weekley. But the problem is that you need your team with as many top 10 finishes as possible this week and neither of those guys scream top 10. This week I’ve decided to go with a lot of mid-range players that could all easily finish in that top 10:

  • Zach Johnson – $17,700 – I was really big on Zach Johnson last week and after two disappointing rounds, he came through on Sunday and Monday and finished with a decent score. He’s my favorite play on Draftstreet this week. Before last week’s 27th place finish, he had 5 straight top 10 finishes. Price tag is very affordable too.
  • Jim Furyk – $18,008 – Furyk is really playing well and it couldn’t come at a better time. He had a bad round Monday which dropped him quite a few spots, but he had 4 straight top 10 finishes before that.
  • Gary Woodland – $14,450 – Woodland is a great price this week. He’s played well in this FedEx Cup with 2nd and 41st place finishes in the first two events. He is my dark horse for another top 10 finish this week. I like him a bit more than Bubba for the same price.

  • Lee Westwood – $16,657 – These next three picks all scare me. They are all ranked in the top 15 in the world rankings and are all very underpriced coming into this tournament. But they are underpriced for a reason, none of them have been playing great. Westwood has played much better in the last two events though with 27th and 25th place finishes. I think he puts it together this week.
  • Luke Donald – $16,587 – Hasn’t been playing well of late, but he is one of the best players in the world. He played well in this tournament last year. If you want the safe play, Donald isn’t your guy, but with no cut you have to take some chances.
  • Brandt Snedeker – $16,474 – Last year’s FedEx Cup champ is too cheap too pass up this week. He is in the same boat as Donald and Westwood. I would rather take guys who have been there before than guys that might get caught up in the pressure.

Good luck and thanks for reading… Any questions just let me know!

Really great projections and picks. I caddied at Conway Farms for many years, starting when I was just 11. Would often see Luke there as that was his home course! (with Northwestern golf team) Luke knows every bump and blade of grass there. It’s an interesting course because the front nine is like a traditional midwestern course with nice tree coverage and the back is much more of pure links. Wind play is important but some of the fairways there are very wide, so guys with low driving accuracy like Jason Day or Phil might have a better chance to do well.

Nice goblue11,wonder how old you are now, can,t be that old I would think.

  • goblue111

yeah snow im 27 now, but caddied there for 10 years in the summers.

Also, kind of interesting, the whole reason this tournament is at Conway Farms is because Luke has been fighting for it, and finally he got his way. So maybe some added pressure for him to perform but he still has the biggest knowledge advantage, by far. Rolling with him in every league!
