Daily Fantasy MLB: Head-to-Head vs. GPP (09/17/13)
I’m working with RotoGrinders on my own regular column for RG which focuses on strategies when setting lineups for 50/50s or Head-to-Heads versus Guaranteed Prize Pool (GPP) events. I’m currently working on an in-depth “general” strategy piece on the topic that should be live on the site soon. After that I will begin a regularly scheduled column, similar to, but more in-depth, than the one below.
The ongoing column will be for MLB and NFL and the piece will focus on picks that standout as the better for beating half of the field (50/50s, Head-to-Head, Double-up) and those picks that are better for beating 99% of the field (GPPs). Below is my first-take; An abbreviated version of what I hope you’ll see more of on RG in the future. Hope you enjoy!
Part 1: 50/50s, Double-Ups, Head-to-Head Picks
When playing 50-50’s/double-ups or head to head, you want guaranteed points. This is not where you roll the dice on all or nothing players. The idea is to simply produce a solid, well balanced team. It may not be explosive, but it doesn’t matter whether you finish in first place or not, you just need to cash. – Players I love tonight.
Part 2: GPP’s
GPP’s are a whole new ball game. You need guys to have huge nights. GPP’s are all about upside. All-or-nothing players can be GPP gold. Below are some value players with a good chance to go off tonight:
Catcher – Yadier Molina, A.J. Pierzynski
If you have any suggestions for the title of this upcoming column, please put your thoughts in the the comments below. Enjoy the games!
