Finding the Balance: Week 25

Wondering why this year’s challenge looks so different from the past? Read here for the full explanation!

After a fun day of relaxing with the fam, it was time to try and keep last night’s big win rolling.. but I had no idea what I was doing with the slate, no matter how much I looked at it, the less I understood it with the exceptions of Gallo, Boogie and Big Val. But… yeah, with the exception of Gallo, this was bad, and Gallo is really the only reason I was able to win anything back.

Got in some more pickup ball tonight and actually made a few shots, so perhaps I can apply it to DFS? This is a fun one with no high-priced studs other than Booker, but it also includes a lot of Suns and Cavs, which is always interesting. Even though the player pool feels small, the lineups had common themes of Booker, Crowder, Rubio, Sexton and Nance, but then got quite a bit different. As things finished up, LOL Jae Crowder, but I got lucky that it was countered with Thabo on FD:

…and I had Josh Jackson and really an all around solid crew around Crowder on DK:

Despite Sunday’s turd, I’m going to give Boogie another go around, and pair him with CP3 across the board, and then sprinkle in guys around it to see if it works. It’s getting to that point in the season where it’s kind of hard to tell who will play much and who won’t, but most Rockets are playing for seeding, so I’ll go with Capela too. Once again, DK was trash, but Yahoo was solid enough on a weird night like this:

I’ll just call tonight, “The night Ricky Rubio was in all of my lineups and was declared out less than ten minutes before lock-time.”

Enjoy these comical DK results:

But hey, Yahoo was actually pretty solid!

A night of library followed by Village Inn somehow led to the world’s biggest dual temper-tantrum, but, as that began to die down and the kids started sleeping, I was able to narrow down what I liked to get in as many Cavs/Kings as possible, as there’s just no way the Freshman Lakers squad can hang with this Warriors team. Ultimately, it was the right call, with a solid night on both Yahoo and DK:

Now, time to make a big move in the Yahoo tourney tomorrow with only two chances left!

Friday night ended up a bit more chaotic than anticipated with my wife unexpectedly having to work late and both my boys being bundles of emotion. However, despite playing on both the the early and late slates on Yahoo as well as late on DK, I did manage to clear 300 in all three lineups. However, on a night where everybody and their mom clear 50 and I only had a few of each, it didn’t matter much…

This slate, though odd, actually works out perfectly with my schedule, as we have a long-overdue date night where we’re going to dinner and a play, which should be from about 5 pm until 9:30 or so. However, with things starting at 4 pm (and with it only being a two-game slate), I actually have plenty of time to get things put together, and would even be available to make changes for the late game if I had to do it! However, most of my action is going to be in the earlier game with seemingly clearer rotations, as that last game could not only be messy from a DNP standpoint, but should also be a blowout.

Sadly, I feel just short on FD:

…but had a solid night on Yahoo…

…and an even better one on DK!

Finding the Balance:

One thing I’m proud of this year is that my wife continues to not even realize I’m playing DFS, as she asked if the playoffs were going when she saw the Final Four game playing at Red Robin. To be clear, I’m not proud of her basketball knowledge, but I am proud of the fact that she’s asked if I’m even playing quite a few times this year, in the midst of my most productive year to date. There are only a few days left, and it’s only going to get weirder from here (Friday night was just the beginning) and I’m relying on guys like JaKarr Sampson to help me finish top three in my season-long league, so here’s to hoping we can all experience some success here as another crazy NBA season comes to a close! See you next week when we tie things up and, until then, try to do your best and finish strong _balancing your life with DFS!
