Friday Sheeds: The Lock of All Locks
Friday is always my favorite day of the week during basketball season. Not only is it the weekend, not only are there a ton of games, but there are always qualifiers running to get into Draftstreet and Fanduel’s Fantasy Basketball Championships. This week Rasheed has found some great matchups and great plays, so let’s get to em:
James Harden – There are a lot of reasons not to take Harden tonight. He has been in a slump, he faces a Hornets team that usually doesn’t give up many points, and the last time he faced them he only had 25 fantasy points. All of those are good arguments, but to me, Harden’s upside outweighs the risks. He is below $16,000 on DS for the first time in a long time and can go for 40 fantasy points any given night.
Russell Westbrook – Westbrook had one of his worst games ever the other night against Golden State and is in position to have a huge bounce back back. His salary came down about $2,000 which makes him very affordable and his matchup against the Kings is a great one. The Kings give up more fantasy points than any other team to opposing PG’s.
Zach Randolph – Randolph has also been slumping lately which has helped his price to get to an extreme low of $12,000. You can fade this pick if you want, but I am going to roll with him once again. Z-Bo is too good not to come out of his slump and his rebound numbers always seem to be there.
Dirk Nowitzki – Dirk is playing a full complement of minutes now and looks to be fully healthy. He has even been playing good lately and averaging 25+ FP’s per night. Yet his price tag is still only $12,000. I love taking guys that you can rely on and Dirk is one of those guys.
Kevin Garnett – KG has really been playing well since he came out and said that he has to play better. His last 3 games he has scored 27, 32, and 27 fantasy points. Look for another solid night tonight against the Hawks who could be without Horford and Zaza.
Greivis Vasquez – I love the matchup Vasquez has tonight going up against Houston. Not only do the Rockets give up the 5th most points to opposing PG’s, but they seem to give up 110+ points every night. Vasquez is really playing well right now and I expect him to have a big night tonight.
Jimmy Butler – This pick hinges on whether or not Deng plays, but at this point it is sounding like he is going to sit out another game. If so, Butler becomes a must play as he has scored over 25 FP’s in each of his last 3 starts.
Ersan Ilyasova – Sova is coming off of back to back 50 point games, or at least very close to it. He is playing like he did last year and I think that the Bucks are going to ride his hot streak. Look for Sova to calm down a little, but still put up a very nice game.
Tristan Thompson – Thompson has been very solid for the Cavs over the last few weeks and I don’t think the addition of Speights is going to change anything. Thompson has a great matchup against the Cavs tonight and for his price, I think he covers pretty easily.
Tiago Splitter – I absolutely love Splitter tonight. He has been solid almost every game even with Duncan in the lineup and last game without Duncan, Splitter went for over 35 FP’s. With Duncan out again tonight, take Splitter and don’t look back.
