G's of the Week - 3/8/2016
Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of Gangstacrunk’s G’s of the Week! In this weekly NBA DFS recap we will highlight the week’s best sleeper picks, list the players that consistently crushed value, and name the one player who took the most teams into the money. This weekly write-up will be released every Tuesday around noon ET. We have a lot to cover this week so let’s get started!
Snooze Button – This Week’s Top Sleeper Picks
David Lee – Lee has been on an absolute TEAR since joining the Mavs, yet his price has only just now gotten up to 4800 on DK. He has hit value in 6 straight games, scoring over 30 fantasy points in 4 of those and even dropping 47 points on Denver scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 boards. The general feeling is he won’t keep up this level of production consistently moving forward, but for now you should ride the hot hand and roster him!
JaMychal Green – He is a value play at 3700, and is one of the many Memphis Grizzlies to see a boost in production due to injuries. They lost Gasol for the year, and have also seen Matt Barnes, Z-bo and Mike Conley sit out games. He is very inconsistent and his increased production may only be temporary, but he has hit value in 3 out of 4 contests including dropping 50 DK points on Cleveland in 37 minutes. He is a tournament only play that can fit into any lineup at his price.
Mario Chalmers – See JaMychal Green. Chalmers has been seeing starter minutes due to injuries and has quietly hit value in 6 of 8 contests. At 4500 on DK he is a bargain priced player, and he has even scored 39 fantasy points in 2 of his last 3 contests. Keep using him as long as Mike Conley is confirmed out, and possibly beyond.
Lance Stephenson – Are you seeing a trend here? When there are injuries in sports, that is where DFS players have to capitalize. Lance is priced at 4000 on DK and has hit value in 6 of 8 contests. His value is trending up, yet he hasn’t been able to break 30 minutes here recently. If that changes then look out, because he has been very efficient with his playing time given.
G’s of the Week – The Week’s Top Fantasy Performers
James Harden – The beard has at least met value in 9 of his last 10 contests, scoring over 60 DK points in 5 of those contests. He consistently gets minutes in the 40’s and handles the ball almost constantly for Houston. It seems like it is never a bad idea to build your lineups around him for cash and tournaments.
Kemba Walker – I am shocked that you can still get Kemba for 8000 anywhere. He has crushed value in 5 of 6 contests, and has played like a stud who should be 9 or 10k.
Kenneth Faried – Priced at 6000, he is an affordable option with tons of upside. Faried has hit value in 6 of 7 contests, including a 57 DK point bombshell he dropped on Dallas in his last matchup. I expect his price to rise so play him while he is low.
Alex Len – Len is still in the affordable 6k range on DK, yet has scored over 50 fantasy points in 3 of his most recent games. His upside is incredible, and he has shown consistency as well, hitting value in 8 of 10 contests. The cat is out of the bag on this one as his ownership percentage has been fairly high in tournaments, but the point is to score the most points so it doesn’t make sense to start fading him until he starts to cool off.
Pau Gasol – Gasol has hit value in 4 of 5 contests, hitting over 30 fantasy points in 3 of those. Most of the starters around him in Chicago are starting to heal up and get back in to the starting lineup, so he won’t always be asked to do as much, but he is always a strong consistent play at his price.
DeMarcus Cousins – Cousins has hit value in 9 of the last 10 contests. In his last game he proved that he is a top fantasy stud, scoring 40 real world points and putting up 75 DK points against New Orleans. He is truly one of the great young talents in this league.
Kevin Durant – The Durantula was a close runner up for this week’s Baller of the Week. He has hit value in 7 straight games, crushing value in 6 of those games. He has scored into the 60s in fantasy points in 5 of his last 6, and is always a threat to stuff the stat sheet in his contract year.
Baller of the Week – The Week’s Top Fantasy Performer
Giannis Antetokounmpo – Giannis can’t stop making appearances on the G’s of the Week wall, and as long as DK fails to raise his price to higher than 8200 I have a feeling he will keep making appearances. The Greek Freak has hit value in 9 of 10 contests, absolutely crushing value in 4 of those where he scored over 60 fantasy points in each. Over that 10 game span he was 1 rebound away from 4 triple doubles (He only had 3 can you believe it?)! He is a machine and has proven he is a steal priced in the 8k range, and that is why the Giannis Antetokounmpo is my Baller of the Week.
