Guaransheed Friday's: New Year, Same Sheeds
Hey Grinders, hope everyone had a fabulous New Years. We have a ton of games on the NBA schedule tonight which means plenty of action and plenty of options. There are also some qualifiers for the Basketball Championships so make sure to get into those.
Chris Paul – CP3 is one of my favorite picks tonight. Not only does he get to face a Lakers team that seems to give up 120 points every night, but he gets to go against Steve Nash who has to be one of the worst defenders in the league. May I also mention that this is the battle of LA teams and you know that CP3 would love to beat the Lakers again. May I also add that the Clippers have lost two in a row and are going to come out firing. Everything adds up for a huge night from Paul.
Rajon Rondo – Rondo’s last 4 games on Draftstreet consisted of the following fantasy scores: 19.25, DNP, 19.75, and 21.5. He is not exactly on a hot streak right now. But in daily fantasy, slumps can sometimes be a good thing when salaries start dropping. Rondo is only $14,000 tonight on DS. Throw out the slump and make the decision with your head. This should be a close game in which Rondo plays a ton of minutes. Take him and thank me when he scores 35 tonight.
Rudy Gay – I’m not sure if there has been a more frustrating fantasy player over the last few weeks. I always seem to take him on nights when he sucks, and when I don’t take him, he goes off like he did last game. That aside, you can’t have biases in daily fantasy sports, and I will continue to take Rudy when he is this cheap. He also has a great matchup against the Blazers and I could easily see him topping the 30 point mark tonight.
Paul Millsap – I doubt anyone will be playing Millsap tonight and while I am a Jazz fan, this is not a homer pick. Millsap has always played well against the Suns and always seems to play better when he doesn’t have someone on his heels waiting to sub in if he doesn’t play good. Tonight, Enes Kanter is doubtful which should increase Millsap’s minutes and confidence. Love this pick tonight.
Tyler Zeller – This kid is just waiting to have a breakout game. He has been getting huge minutes with Varejao out and seems to score between 16-20 fantasy points every night. If he ends up with that tonight, that’s a reasonable score for his price that you can be happy with. But I think he tops the 25 point mark tonight against the Bobcats.
Kyrie Irving – Kyrie has been really boom or bust the last couple weeks and has struggled with his consistency. I’m sure not having Varejao hurts a little, but his scoring should increase with him being out. Tonight he faces a Bobcats team that gives up the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing PG’s. I think Kyrie takes advantage of it and has a big game.
Francisco Garcia – Thornton and Tyreke are likely going to be out again which means big minutes for Garcia. He is dirt cheap on Fanduel and could be worth taking on a night that doesn’t offer many good options at SG. Take Garcia and load up elsewhere.
Kevin Durant – Durant will usually get his regardless of the matchup and I don’t think tonight will be any different. While Lebron has been putting up monster numbers of late, he has a little issue with his knee and you might as well play it safe with Durant. 40+ easy tonight.
Tristan Thompson – Thompson has really been playing well and is still underpriced on FD. He is coming off of a subpar performance and should be able to bounce back against the Bobcats. He will likely get a double double.
DeMarcus Cousins – Maybe the Kings should have suspended Cousins earlier because it appears to have worked. He has put up huge numbers in each of his last 4 games and has a dream matchup against the Raptors. Who is going to guard him tonight? Gray? Undersized Amir? Expect another big night.
