Guaransheed Friday's: Picks for Draftstreet & Fanduel
I’m getting the Sheeds out a little late today, so I will keep them short and sweet. There is a full slate of games today as there always is on Friday and there are two more spots up for grabs to the Fanduel & Draftstreet Basketball championships. Now that Rasheed is out with an injury, he has more time to focus on the Sheed picks and he is going to do his part to make sure that the qualifiers are won by Grinders. Here are Sheed’s top plays for each site:
Rajon Rondo – Rondo had one of his worst fantasy performances ever in his last game. He only finished with 12 fantasy points, yet he played over 30 minutes. Good news for us is that he is still extremely underpriced at around $14,000 tonight. Rondo at that price is usually a must play regardless of opponent, but when you consider that he plays Houston, Rondo becomes a must play. Houston gives up a ton of points and I expect Rondo to do damage in all phases of the game. It also doesn’t hurt that he will likely get a few steals from the turnover machine Jeremy Lin.
Luke Ridnour – I have a feeling Ridnour is going to be a popular pick tonight on DS and for good reason. He usually plays at least 30 minutes and the absence of Barea will only increase his minutes. It also helps that Rubio is on a minutes restriction. Ridnour faces the Hornets tonight who are average defensively against PG’s. I am not expecting a huge game from Ridnour, but he will certainly be worth taking and I think he will end up with around 25 fantasy points.
Ersan Ilyasova – The living skeleton is back in the starting lineup thanks to the Bucks firing Skiles. The new coach is listening to management and is giving Sova a good share of minutes. His first two games in the starting lineup have resulted in 26 fantasy points in each and I think he tops that tonight against the Pistons.
Ed Davis – Davis can be held quiet for whole quarters at a time and then all of a sudden score ten points in the next two minutes. He seems to respond well to positive reinforcement and that’s all he has gotten from his coach lately. If Davis plays up to his potential, he should have a monster game against the Bobcats who give up the more fantasy points than any other team to PF’s. Make sure Davis is in your lineup!
Tyler Zeller – Zeller is also the winner of the great matchup raffle as he gets to play the Denver Nuggets who give up the most fantasy points to centers. Zeller has been playing well, gets about 35 minutes per game, has a great matchup, and is a steal at less than ten grand. Don’t overthink this one and go against the grain, take him and be glad that you did.
Deron Williams – If you are thinking to yourself, Will _______ do good tonight? Just think, no he won’t, but D-WILL. Get it? Terrible joke but it gets a laugh like 12% of the time. Moral of the story is that D-Will should be a great play tonight against against Phoenix, especially if Joe Johnson is out. D-Will has been averaging over 30 FP’s per game at home and has been playing really well since they fired Avery Johnson.
Alexey Shved – Shved is going to get a ton of minutes tonight and will likely spend time as both the shooting guard and the point guard. The great thing about Shved is that he has big upside because he can get hot and score in bunches. He is worth a shot for only $5,000, especially since the SG position is sometimes hard to fill.
Metta World Peace – Metta is playing a lot and playing well with no Pau and no Dwight in the lineup. He will likely play most of the game tonight as long as he can stay out of foul trouble. That’s not an easy thing to do when guarding Durant, but Metta doesn’t often get into foul trouble. Look for him to post a solid double double.
Amir Johnson – Amir’s price on FD is much lower than his price comparatively on other sites. He should be around $6,000 and until he is, keep taking him. He is starting at center for the Raptors and plays a weak front court in the Bobcats. Look for another 25+ fantasy point night from Amir.
Nikola Pekovic – Centers are usually one of the toughest positions to pick from, but I think Pek is a lock to score big tonight. He is averaging 21 and 14 over the last 3 games with Love being out and there is no reason to think he can’t do that tonight against the Hornets.
