Guaransheed Friday: Tis the Season of Giving
Even though it is the last day of November, tonight is filled with big tournaments that fall in line with the spirit of Christmas. Both Draftstreet and Fanduel have their Basketball Championship qualifiers tonight that are just waiting to give away seats to the Final. I have still yet to claim a seat in either of them, but it hasn’t been due a lack of trying. I have a great feeling about tonight’s picks so I am hoping I can turn it into a qualifier win. But tis the season of giving so if I can’t win one, maybe the Sheed’s can help a fellow Grinder win one.
Here are my Guaransheed’s for both DS & FD tonight:
Josh Smith – If you are looking for a guy that will either get you 15 or 50 fantasy points, Smoove is your guy. On paper, tonight should be an excellent matchup with the Cavs who really don’t have anyone that should be able to guard Smith. Not only does he have a good matchup, but he seems to have teamed up with Stella to get his groove back as he had his best game of the season two nights ago. I know it’s scary to take him, but for $15,000, he is worth the risk on DS.
Paul Pierce – I am hoping that Rondo’s suspension kind of goes by the wayside with fantasy players and that no one will realize that Pierce is a great play tonight. Every time Rondo goes down, Pierce steps in and picks up his game. He seems to get more minutes, rebounds, and assists every time Rondo is out. It also doesn’t hurt that they are playing the Blazers who don’t have a great defense.
Courtney Lee – Again, hopefully no one plays any of the Celtics tonight, but even if they do, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t. I’m guessing most people will take Barbosa tonight as he is expected to get the start, but for my money, I am taking Lee. He is cheaper and benefited the most the last time Rondo was out. If you are looking for a cheap guy so that you can take a few studs, go with Lee. He is good for 15+ fantasy points tonight.
J.R. Smith – I was one of the many that was screaming at the TV the other night when everytime J.R. would get in the game, he would immediately pick up another foul. He ended up with more fouls than points. Even though it screwed me the other night, it could work in my favor tonight as many people will most likely jump ship. But in fantasy sports, you can’t have biases and J.R. still remains a great play with J-Kidd out again tonight. Look for him to stay out of foul trouble and get around 35-40 minutes.
Andray Blatche – Brook Lopez is out for the next couple of games which means Blatche will see a huge bump in his minutes. It was hard deciding between Blatche and Hump for this last spot, but I ended up taking Blatche because he is listed as a center and centers are so up and down that I’d like to take one that should easily cover his value.
Jeremy Pargo – Pargo still has the reigns for the Cavaliers and even tough he hasn’t been playing that well the last few games, he is $3,800 so he really doesn’t have to do much to cover his share of points. Taking Pargo will also help you afford the expensive guys that I’m about to get to.
George Hill – Hill is one of my favorite picks tonight on FD. While there are always a ton of PG options, Hill is only $5,600 and is taking on a Kings team that is known for their defensive lapses. Look for Hill to have a solid 15 point, 7 assist, 5 rebound game tonight.
Kobe Bryant – The Black Mamba is going to be extremely focused and determined tonight after the Laker’s lost a game to the Pacers in which he committed 10 turnovers. I like taking Kobe on FD because you don’t get docked for any of the shots that he misses. I am expecting a huge night out of Kobe against the Nuggets in which should be the highest scoring game of the night. D’Antoni team against the Nuggets? This one might be 150-148.
Andray Blatche – Blatche is only $4,100 on FD and should be on your team. See above if you need further persuading.
