Guaransheed Fridays - The Sheed Effect
You may think that the Knicks being 3-0 has a lot to do with luck. Or maybe it’s because they were playing for their city in their home opener against the Heat and then followed it up with easy wins over a Philly team that is missing their best player. But you are wrong, the real reason that the Knicks are undefeated are because of the powers of Sheed! There is arguably no other bench player in the NBA that has as big of an impact as the Sheed. He even gets chants from the crowd when he is riding the pine. He has the emotional impact of a Scalabrine combined with his skills as a Sheed.
Not only has he helped the Knicks get out to a fast start, but he helped get the Guaransheed’s out to a hot start as well. Last week we were spot on with our star picks as well as Sheed’s Gray Hair picks. This week’s picks should be even better:
Deron Williams) – I was debating between D-Will and Kyrie Irving for this spot, but ultimately I went with D-Will because Kyrie is still getting over food poisoning and who knows how that will affect his play. D-Will has a great matchup against E’Twaun Moore of the Magic and a great price on DS of around $15,000. He is coming off of a very bad performance against the Heat and should bounce back nicely tonight. I’m thinking D-Will comes in with around 20 and 12 in a close high scoring game.
Tony Parker) – You always have to be a little weary of taking a Spurs player that plays in the later games because coach Pop loves to sit his guys and he hates telling the media about injuries until right before tip off. I’m fairly confident you won’t have to worry about that tonight, but just a warning. Tony P has a great matchup against the Kings who hate to play defense, but play well at home so it should be a fairly close game. The Spurs are coming off of a dud offensive performance against the Clippers and will rely on Tony P to get them going tonight.
Glen Davis) – I am going to ride the Big Baby train again after he went for 29 and 10 last week for the Sheed’s. The Magic are coming off of a bad loss against the T-Wolves in which Baby only got 19 minutes. He should be fully rested and ready to go for tonight’s game against the Nets who love to put up points. Look for Baby to give you somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 and 10 with a block or two.
Zach Randolph) – Z-Bo has been the model of consistency so far this season. Check out his stat lines from his first 4 games: 15 and 16, 15 and 14, 16 and 18, 18 and 13. Do you see a trend here at all? The Grizzlies play the Rockets at home tonight and Z-Bo should dominate Patrick Patterson and put together another solid performance. I think he can top the 20 point mark tonight to go along with 15 boards.
Carmelo Anthony) – Melo has been putting up some incredible first quarters so far this season, the only problem has been that the Knicks have gotten out to such huge leads that he hasn’t had to do much in the second halves of games. I am hoping that the Mavericks can keep up with the Knicks for the most part tonight and if so, Melo should be in for a big night. Rasheed said he has inside information on the matter.
Omer Asik) – ASIK!! Has to be one of the better looking guys in the league for sure. And he can rebound with the best of them too. The only thing you have to worry about with him is if he can actually put points up. He has almost twice as many rebounds as points so far this season and from a daily fantasy perspective that is just fine because rebounds are a lot more consistent than points. Asik should play more minutes than he did in the last one and should easily make his value.
Sheed’s Gray Spot Pick of the Day:
A.J. Price(G) – Price has been my sneaky pick every time he has taken the floor so far this season. While he hasn’t put up huge numbers, he has increased his fantasy points in every game and put up over 25 last game. He is still cheap on DS and is a steal on FD. Get him on your team tonight and thank me later when he goes for between 20-25 fantasy points and no one has him.
