GuarGuar's NBA Pick and Pop: 2/05/19

Recap: Won on DK yesterday but lost on FD so I finished even for the day. The Pick and Pop is back again today for this 8-game slate we have. Pretty average slate in my opinion, none of the games currently have a 230 total. Still some great fantasy plays today, which I for sure will get into. Let’s dive into it!

Point Guard

Jerryd Bayless (5400 DK/5900 FD): Bayles is a pretty simple cash game play (and GPP) tonight. Rose, Teague, and Tyus are all out for today’s game. Bayless is locked into 32+ minutes, and he’s shown he can produce fantasy value given the minutes. He hasn’t gone under 20 DK points in 2 weeks. His price tag is still pretty cheap considering his expected minutes and usage. I’m sure he will be pretty chalky and I’m definitely ok with that. Differentiate yourself elsewhere in GPPs.

Shooting Guard

Lou Williams (7300 DK/7700 FD): Shooting guard as a whole is pretty ugly today. Not a fan of the position at all. I definitely think Lou Will might be the best of the crop though, as the Clippers are taking on the Hornets. This is expected to be one of the higher scoring games of the slate, currently with a 226 total. Charlotte gives up the 5th-most DK points on average to shooting guards this season. They play a very soft pick and roll coverage too. Lou put up 50 DK in the first matchup this season. His price is definitely on the high side but I’m comfortable going to him tonight.

Small Forward

Kawhi Leonard (9300 DK/9800 FD): Kawhi and the Raptors take on the Sixers in what is currently a 228.5 total game. Leonard has had great success against Philly so far this year, averaging 58 DK in 2 games. Philly plays a soft pick and roll coverage and has allowed scorers to have their way with them all this season. Kawhi runs pick and roll approximately 27% of the time. His price on both sites is more than fair, especially on FD with steals being worth 3 pts each. He’s been guarding Ben Simmons during these matchups and has had great success forcing turnovers. Great play in all formats tonight in my opinion.

Power Forward

Blake Griffin (8800 DK/9200 FD): Blake is definitely my favorite power forward play of this slate. The Pistons travel to MSG to take on the Knicks tonight in what is a 205 total. Not a sexy game environment, but the Knicks have been absolutely atrocious this year. They really have struggled against power forwards too, giving up the 5th-most fantasy points on average to the position. Certainly, a spot where we could see one of those ceiling games from Blake. And we know based on the season he’s having that 8.8k is generally too cheap. Definitely a viable GPP option tonight that might go overlooked.

Center

Myles Turner (6500 DK/7300 FD): Indy hosts the Lakers tonight, which will be a massive pace up spot for the Pacers. The Lakers play at the 4th-fastest pace in the league this season. Great rebounding spot for Turner, as all the Lakers centers are positive rebound funnel spots. Sabonis went off in this spot earlier in the season, I think it’s Turner’s turn tonight. He also had positive home splits and this game is in Indiana. 6.5k is definitely a price I’m willing to play in both cash and GPP. His upside in this spot is quite large.
