Looking To Catch A Break
I don’t know about any of you fellow Daily Fantasy Sports players but I seem to have a black cloud consistently following me. I firmly believe I’m cursed. I’ve been playing daily MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAAB, NCAAF and sometimes NHL on FanDuel for over a year. I always start off well but inevitably it seems like every night one guy crushes my hopes in the most bizarre and hurtful ways. All the sudden at some point in the night one of my guys will get hurt, ejected or have a career worse night. It’s like they know I’m picking them. All of the sudden a baseball player will swing like they have a wiffle ball bat, football players have mannequin hands and basketball players will shoot as if they’re using their feet. Pretty much any night you see something amazingly horrific, I’m on the wrong side of it. Perhaps I could be alright with that if other facets in my life were going well. (I also happen to be a 34 year old stay at home son that sleeps in a bunk bed.But that’s another story for another time.) I digress…. Although a born loser, you would think I’d be used to it by now. Sadly I am not and tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve. These tough losses in daily sports have led me to write letters or tweet to players asking they do the right thing and send me a check to reimburse me. I believed in them, it’s only fair right? The most recent being Jamaal Charles. Apparently he wasn’t so fond of my request and blocked me on Twitter. I’m very superstitious as well and don’t like taking guys who I say “spell their names wrong.” Perhaps if he spelled it the conventional way “Jamal” with one “a” I would have been alright that sad Sunday I chose to take him vs the Denver Broncos on Sunday night football. As fate would have it tonight I was snakebit in the NBA by Dante Exum. I love the Boston Celtics more than I love myself but they seemingly haven’t been able to stop anyone this year. So at home, playing against them on a back to back you would think Dante could maybe fall into an assist or rebound or two. Possibly muster up at least 15-18 points. But nooooooooo. He ends up with 2.2 ! Turns out I was better off taking a kangaroo from his homeland. Speaking of which, it was “ Australian Day”! How do you put up less points than the hot dog vendor on your birth places national day!!!!! On a nightly basis right around 6 pm before the usual 7 pm contest I get real excited and text back and forth with my FanDuel friends TommyA11 and MikeyA25. Not sure about others but right before the contest starts I feel like I used to on the night before Christmas. Then inevitably around 7:35 pm I’ve broken something in my basement and left staring at the sky wondering “ why me again?” as my team for that’s nights contest is yet again going down the tubes. Despite my record long bad luck streak though, you can count on it I’ll be scratch, battle and clawing tomorrow hoping to catch a break and strike gold in the college and NBA contests! If anyone has any remedies on how to lose this black cloud I’m more than willing to listen! PS. I’m sure most people who plays DFS know about one of it’s best and well known players McJester. If this run of bad luck continues I may be forced to kidnap his cat shown on his Twitter picture and hold it for ransom! Just kidding McJester!……sort of.
