My life as a NBA Noob

So i decided that i would test the uncharted waters of the NBA this week on Fan duel . Ya ya don’t get me started. As a NBA noob the water looks warm and reach out as far as the eye can see.  But i am told there arelots of sharks in dem der sea’s. So i decided to tread lightly. My first foray in this was Monday night with a Head 2 Head challenge that i acquired in the chat room by asking for a rookie to play against. No need to try and take on a shark day one. My request was like chum in the water as i had around 15 Private requests with in 1 minute. After checking records and sifting through people just trying to abuse little ol me i found someone and
accepted the challenge.

A little back ground on me. I really don’t like the sport of basketball. Being tall  and always being asked to play in High School etc just really turned me off the sport. Plus it always seemed to me
that the people that could not play Hockey or Football played basketball… I guess i have always looked at it as a less skillful game. Don’t blast me for saying it! its just my take. ANYWAY back to me. I understand the game and the rules, more or less. I know the big name players at least 15 or so of them. But other than that have no real player knowledge.

Ok so i have to make my player selections. WHO THE ^#*$ are all these guys?? Whats a PF SG??? who cares i just need to pick a player. So my thoughts were this. I went to covers and looked to see what games had the highest over under totals for the day.  Then looked to see what players are the top scores for the teams in those games. It makes sense to me that you should have a max of 2 players from any one team. Preferably just one player i think. Next was to grab all the top players based on those games and there fantasy pts per game average. I was left with 3 open spots. Those were filled with the best average ppg players at around the 5k mark. I then had to check to see if any of these guys were injured. I was lucky and everyone showed healthy.

So as it turns out my opponent had a player not play very well compared to what his totals indicated he should have and i held on to win a close one. Yay me. I really like that there are so many points scored so there is always action while watching the in progress screen.

The next day i accepted a challenge from the the same player and went through the same process. And again met with the same results. So i am rocking a 2-0 record to start off my NBA career. I must say i enjoy watching my NBA player fantasy stats increase more than i enjoy watching the games. On a side note i will say that i enjoy attending a live NBA game over going to a live NHL game. Yet you could not pay me to watch an NBA game on TV and could not pry me away from watching hockey on the tube.

Tonight there were so many games and i really did not have a chance to look into things so i missed out on all the fun with Fan Duels Wednesday night madness. This multiple entry into the large events thing kinda rubs me the wrong way, but most people seem to like it. I guess i will
have to give it a shot Friday.

This NBA noob will be sticking to playing with the smaller fish in the Fan Duel pond for now. Maybe if i can get up to 9 or 10 wins i will go all Roy Scheider. But for now i know my place.
