NBA DFS 1/26

Last night gave us one of the most fun slates of the NBA season, who could of predicted the Warriors routing the Spurs?! Tonight isn’t your typical small slate Tuesday, as we get to continue the madness with another 8 games on the schedule. I’m going to quickly run through some stud plays and values plays at each position, so lets jump into it and start building these lineups!

Point Guard

Damian Lillard $9,300

Playing point guards against the Kings has become the go to. Rondo is not even close to the elite defender he was earlier in his career, and the majority of the time it doesn’t even look like he’s trying. Lillard is in a great spot here against a Kings team that has been playing well lately, and should be able to keep this close. This game has the highest total of the night at 215 and I like Dame D.O.L.L.A. to lead his team.

Deron Williams $6,200

I’m not normally a fan of Dwill, especially with the recent price tag inflation across the industry, but he does get the Lakers tonight. If you’re playing DFS regularly, you know that guards against the Lakers are as easy a decision as you get, with L.A. ranking dead last in DVP against both backcourt spots. I’m not starting roster construction with Deron, but if I have the salary, I don’t mind plugging him in what couldn’t be a better matchup.

Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan $8,300

One of the trends you’ll see in my analysis is an unwavering love for DeMar. Shooting Guard feels like it’s been the toughest position to fill this season, but DeMar always seems to produce. Tonight he gets the Wizards, the worst team in the league at defending the wings, who he lit up for 35 real points and 8 boards in their last meeting. There is some concern about the blowout with the Wizards coming off a back to back, but John Wall was rested the entire 4th quarter in what could be attempt to compete tonight. If this game stays close I expect DeMar to be the top shooting guard on tonight’s slate.

Archie Goodwin $4,500

Brandon Knight is expected to miss some time, and the Suns have really grown to like the potential from Goodwin, especially after hitting that fade away game winner Saturday night. Eligible at the SG on DraftKings, Goodwin actually plays the point, where a matchup with Ish Smith and the 76ers is not one to be afraid of. In Knight’s absence Goodwin’s logged 39 and 41 minutes over the last two game, and with the Suns continuing to struggle with injuries, Goodwin’s a lock for the minutes. Winning DFS Tournaments starts with finding cheap players who are guaranteed time on the court, and Archie’s the perfect place to look tonight.

Small Forward

Paul George $8,900
I know. Paul George just had a big game, and he is the king of following up those outings with a massive letdown. But think for a second… Who on the Clippers is capable of guarding George? Exactly. On a night where Small Forward may offer the weakest options, I’m taking the stud with the best matchup.

PJ Tucker $5,100

The Suns offer all of my go to value plays for tonight’s slate, and they’re going to be needed in order to work some of the other extremely high price tags into your lineups. Tucker has recently taken full control over the Suns’ Small Forward position with TJ Warren stuck in the doghouse, and has averaged 30 minutes over the last 5 games. The 76ers rank dead last in guarding the SF and Tucker should see his fair share of the ball with Brandon Knight out. Tucker doesn’t offer the highest ceiling, but his minutes should guarantee he returns value.

Power Forward

DeMarcus Cousins $11,000

If you want to win, put Boogie in. Arguably the best DFS player this season, if DeMarcus is on the slate, you find a way to plug him into your lineup. The guy has been on an absolute tear, and we need to ride the hot streak for as long as we can. Oh and the Kings get Portland, ranked 29th in Power Forward DVP. This game is projected as the highest scoring total on the night, it’s an absolute that Boogie will get his.

I refuse to recommend another power forward. I cannot, in good faith, recommend fading Boogie for any reason. Please just plug him in.

DeAndre Jordan $7,200

I know Myles Turner is the biggest fad in DFS since Boban’s first minute, but that doesn’t mean DeAndre is in a bad spot here. The Pacers have been notoriously bad this season at slowing down big men, ranking 20th in DVP against the center position. This game is expected to stay close, with the Clippers barely favored on the road. I expect the Clippers to come out strong and try to distract the nation from Blake’s ridiculous fight with the training staff. I like DeAndre to dominate tonight in a game with a total of 208.

Willie Cauley-Stein $4,800

Rudy Gay has already been ruled out for tonight’s game, and Willie’s usage rate skyrockets when Gay is off the court. He’s recently received some very high praise from Coach George Karl, and the real decision maker of the Kings DeMarcus Cousins has said Willie needs more time on the floor. His recent play has reflected this praise, reaching 5x value in 3 of his last 4. Playing on the back to back we get the advantage of his salary remaining somewhat deflated. Play Cauley-Stein while you can at this price tag.
