NFL Draftkings $50-$500 Challenge Week 1 Review

Well ladies and gentlemen week 1 is in the books and it’s worked out pretty well for the challenge! In my GPPS it was a little shock and awe. I watched my winnings go from 26k at the end of Sunday night all the way to making a very small profit of a few hundred bucks but that’s not what we are here for so lets get onto the cash game lineup domination!

Breaking down the lineup
Total score 165.12

Matt Ryan – I was up in the air on QB for this week and played this as a stack with Julio Jones who I expected to have huge game. I am not always a fan of pairing a QB/WR in cash but this week I think it was hard to avoid given the game total and high game total

Chris Ivory – Just as expected he pounded away at the Browns and managed to find the end zone twice and add a reception. Solid performance.

Lamar Miller – Did the Dolphins forget they had a RB? Miller had 3 carries almost the whole first half and if it was not for garbage time at the end of the game he barely would have gotten over 3 points. I thought Miller was going to pound the Redskins. How wrong I was. I am steering clear of Miller going forward until the Dolphins figure some things out.

Stevie Johnson – I read a bit through the offseason that Stevie Johnson and Phillip Rivers had built good report and was hoping to sneak in a cheap pick that could payoff. I was not disappointed although not his favorite target Johnson managed to find the end zone just once with 6 receptions and almost had a second getting stopped at the 1, which cost me thousands in my GPP in a few other lineups.

Julio Jones – Top priced WR on the board in a game with the highest total combined with an Eagles defense that couldn’t stop a leak in a waterless pool. Fade at your own risk. No brainer here this week.

Rueben Randle – Disappointment plain and simple. My thought process is with Cruz out and the attention on OBJ he would get some decent targets and had a safe floor, how wrong I was.

Martellus Bennett – Thank you garbage time TD! Cutler is bad and his WR are not the best either. I was hoping for a much bigger game from Bennett but I will take it.

Eddie Lacy – Lacy didn’t produce as much as I would have hoped against Chicago. I was hoping the Packers would take a bigger lead and use Lacy to eat the clock up. He did manage to find the end zone and was so highly owned in cash games it wasn’t a big deal he didn’t go off.

Jets- I pivoted from the Dolphins D at the last minute on Sunday morning. I could have gone either way but I had so much exposure to Dolphins in my other lineups I switched to Jets D to be safe. If newly reformed Johnny Football hadn’t come in the game the Jets probably would have put up some more points.

We didn’t do good enough for a $100 seat however we managed to win all our H2Hs and 50/50s as well as cashing our GPP for $3 turning our $26 we put into week 1 bankroll into $39 which brings the current bankroll for the challenge to $64 Looking to keep that going next week and push a little harder in a few more H2Hs and 50/50s

I have not had much time to look at the matchups or dig into much for this week but its look hard to pass up Marcus Mariota against the Browns at only 6k on Draftkings.

Hope you all had success during week 1 see you next week!
