With a paltry three game slate tonight one will have to sift through the cracks to find those under owned players to take down a GPP this evening. The Philadelphia Flyers are the only team to have been in action last night as they travel from the friendly confines of the Wells Fargo center to cross the border into Canada to take on the Ottawa Senators. Did I say ‘friendly confines’? Evidently that was not the case last night as the home town Flyers looked like a misguided pee-wee team in their 8-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. The highlight of the night was before the game when the much ballyhooed mascot named Gritty was hoisted down from the rafters with a bungee cord. Actually I thought that maybe the Flyers brass would let him take a shift with the way the Flyers played last night. Anyway, below you will find a few plays at each position that may be helpful while constructing your line ups over on FanDuel this evening.
While Evgeny Kuznetsov ($7,300) seems to be the dead chalk this evening on Fanduel he will also come at the highest price at this position. The Capitals take on the Vegas Golden Knights on home ice which makes Kuznetsov one of the better plays of the evening while being a key part of the Washington top power play unit. He has netted two of the four goals that the caps have scored while enjoying the man advantage and that should continue this evening against a Vegas team that has given up two goals in their first eight penalty kill attempts.
We won’t know until a bit later but Adam Henrique ($5,200) looks to be a cheap target at the center position this evening. The Ducks host the Arizona Coyotes who are currently 0-2 so far this season. The injury to Ryan Getzlaf has only led to more opportunity for the Anaheim center as he has collected three points in the first three games.
We may as well get Alexander Ovechkin ($8,800) out of the way right now as he, just like his line mate in Kuznetsov, is the highest priced winger this evening. This would make Brett Connolly ($3,700) an absolute steal here as he skates with the talented duo on the team’s top line. Vegas has only given up eight power plays in three games so it’s likely that Connolly will see more action than usual this evening.
After grabbing a career high 41 points in 79 games last season Ryan Dzingel ($4,800) is off and running this season with the Ottawa Senators. His two goals and two assists in the first three games is tied for second on the team while leading the Senators with 10 shots on goal. Dzingel is on the top power play unit which should play right into his strength against the seemingly defenseless Flyers.
Besides John Carlson ($6,400), Shayne Gostisbehere ($6,400) could be the best defensive player out there this evening. A lot of folks will be down on the Flyers which could drive his ownership down even lower in GPP play. The Ghost leads the team in 12 shots through three games while scoring one of the three power play goals the Flyers have been able to be credited with. Ottawa has given up two power play goals in seven penalty kill attempts so look for Gostisbehere to get a few opportunities to fond the score sheet this evening.
On the other side of the coin we have Maxime Lajoie ($3,800) who has logged an average of over 19 minutes on the Ottawa blue line. He has lit the lamp once and has added an assist through the first three games while getting eight shots on net. This is certainly enough data to roster him at his low price this evening.
One has to believe that John Gibson ($8,300) will get the start for the Anaheim Ducks. The only stat you need to know is that the Arizona Coyotes have not scored a goal this season. Going against Gibson may be a riskier option that could pay off if the Coyotes decide to score a few goals this evening.
